Through his personal journey with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Clint Paddison knows only too well just how debilitating and challenging RA can be. This led him to develop "The Paddison Program", a new, and somewhat controversial approach that challenges the status-quo of accepted evidence in complementary medicine.
Following his own diagnosis he found himself confined to his bed and robbed of his usual physically active lifestyle. Clint immersed himself in RA research and through his own personal trial and error, he developed protocols that helped reverse his disease. The results are nothing short of incredible, and he's gone on to teach thousands of other's his methods and help them too, gain control over this degenerative condition.

Studies on Fat & Gut Inflammation
Animal model shows that a consumption of a high-fat diet, by promoting changes in host bile acid composition, reduces the density of microfora and creates an inflammatory environment in the small intestine:
Of all fats measured in animal models, the worst are unsaturated fats (oils) – authors of one study commented that “USF (corn oil/linoleic acid) by itself results in dysregulation of intestinal tight junction integrity leading to increased gut permeability”:
Following from this, in human studies, common medium chain fatty acids (found in several vegetable fats and dairy products) cause a “rapid increase in epithelial permeability” in humans:

I have a big problem with Clint Paddison's program and I would like to get your thoughts on it?
Clint's programme is based on a Plant Based Diet, which I agree is very effective at reducing inflammation, but it is also extremely hard to get sufficient levels of Collagen, Glutamine and Vitamin K2 in a Plant Based Diet.
People suffering with RA often have joint damage. Collagen in their diet can help repair some of this damage when inflammation around the joints starts to die down. We know for a fact that Collagen can repair bone erosions and it can also help the body regrow or heal damaged cartilage and tendons.
Surely a predominantly Plant Based diet with some animal proteins containing Collagen would be the best dietary approach for trying to reverse Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Clint also talks about oils and fats as being inflammatory, but we also know that this is not true.
Some processed oils and fats are definitely inflammatory, but MCT, XCT and Omega 3 and 6 oils in a sensible equal ratio are not inflammatory.
People with RA already tend to be deficient in nutrients. I am really concerned that persuading someone to switch to a Plant Based Diet could make them even more deficient in certain nutrients that you can only get from eating meat.
I am super sceptical over the long term effectiveness of Paddison's programme.
To me it feels no different to medication taken for RA. Yes, there's no doubt that medication and Paddison's programme will reduce inflammation in the blood and make people feel better, but does it really heal the underlying cause creating the inflammation? I don't think it does...
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this.
Unfortunately, I haven't science ⚗ 🔬 or medical 💉 💊 background, therefore any answer I could research for you (Collagen, Glutamine, Vitamin K2, etc.) would merely be mouthing the plant-based folks I learn from. 😔
Perhaps, if you presented these queries to the plant-based scientists/ medical folks directly, they could address your most excellent concerns? 🤔

Merely for clarification, I share 🆓 information with folks who are genuinely curious/ interested in diet/ lifestyle to manage their RA/ autoimmune illnesses — not persuading anyone "switch to" P-BD/L. 😳

Amusingly, the various approaches — variations-on-a-theme roadmaps 🗺 — at times appear to engage in some sort of "religious wars" ⚔ amongst 'n betwixt themselves. 😳 😂 🙃 Some step back to let the 'big brains' 🤓 work it out, some like to participate 'in the brawl' . . . 😯 🙃 😆

It is now well established that RA is associated with increases in both morbidity and mortality compared with the general population. " . . . Clint: Go ahead and tell her the same thing.
What I'm about to say applies to anyone listening or watching our video.
If your rheumatologist wants to speak with me then I will personally have a conversation with them on Skype or phone and they can contact me and I will pick up the phone and I will spend as long as they want over the phone talking about this.
I know that not many rheumatologist will probably accept that invitation because they would consider that to be insulting to their own intelligence perhaps or maybe they're shut down to ideas that aren't presented to them at the conferences that they pay a lot of money to attend every year or the scientific papers that they read maybe aren't addressing this as the primary path forward.
However what I want you to do is to pass on that invitation and anyone please pass the invitation.
I can be contacted.
My team pick up my emails that info@paddisonprogram.com.
So whenever there's something that needs my attention it comes to me and I will happily follow up on that in the interim what we can do is we can direct them to my TED talk which was the talk that you mentioned in your earlier and also I have the Guide for Rheumatologists and I'll put the download link on the show notes of this episode so anyone who's listening to this can jump onto our website, grab the guide for rheumatologist and it includes all of the scientific studies that show the link between not just the gut and how it interacts with the immune system and gut bacteria and how they influence the decisions that our gut lining has as to what should be passed through the gut wall and what should be withheld into the intestine but also all the studies that have been done with people following a diet that's somewhat similar to what I recommend.
Low fat plant based diet and how the tremendous improvements that they have made.
So when people say to me why don't you go ahead and do a clinical trial.
Well yes we have that in the pipelines but it's a lot of money to do and it's very hard to organize and requires a collaboration that requires me to hire staff to become research assistants and all of this work that needs to be done.
And in the interim, I can present a very very comprehensive compilation in a document called The Guide for Rheumatologist that people can read and say well there you go look there's the there's overwhelming evidence here.
Do we really need Clint to run this clinical trial.
And yes I will do it because I think that that loop needs to be closed.
But in the meantime we're kind of like 90 percent there with this document that I already have put together. . . . "

☑️ Be off any of the nasty gut drugs (NSAIDs, pred, PPI’s, antibiotics)
☑️ Keep close the simplest PP foods
☑️ Ensure your diet includes probiotics via food & supplements
☑️ Keep your body moving a lot each day so your body is challenged
☑️ Avoid consistent long-term stress
☑️ Avoid distractions

I practice these as best I can & have come round to understanding the significance of implementing some of these tips a bit more diligently. 😳 (Live & learn! 😌 🙏 )
.
Lot of simple wisdom packed into brief tips.
Kindly beware of what, where, & whom you spend your time & energy with. 🙏 The repercussions are cumulative/ significant over time (😳 🤯 🙃 ), which reminds me of the gorgeous ‘running lions’ ( healthunlocked.com/nras/pos... ) photo with caption:
. . . "Surround yourself with those on the same mission as you."
.
In hindsight, there’s profound depth of meaning in those simple words. 🙏 😌
Maybe considered a ‘passive’ (or ‘mild’) form of exercise in addition to improving bone health & avoid/ minimise Calcium supplementation(?) 🤔 : a Weighted Vest for bone health ( google.com/search?as_q=Weig... )
[Of course, per usual, check with your medics 👩⚕️👨⚕️ to ensure it would be safe for you to wear — especially if you’ve any back/ spine/ neck, shoulder, knee issues, etc..]
It fits comfortably on top of (or under) layer of loose fitting 👚 👕 clothing. Reduces ‘overheating’ as it allows ‘air circulation/ ventilation’ ♻️ — especially on warmer ☀️ 🔥 days where a more ‘full coverage’ vest can build up heat/ perspiration with less air circulation.
[Of course, try it on (if possible) to ensure the weight & fit (adjustability) are comfortable for you. 👍👍 )
If you can find one with removable weights (that slide in & out ‘little pockets’) to adjust overall vest weightthat’s a nicety. 🤗
[It allows the flexibility of increasing weight as we build strength & ‘feel up to’ adding additional weight. And, likewise, it allows the the flexibility of decreasing weight when we’d like to ‘lighten the load’. 👍👍 ]
If feeling up to it, wear around house 🏠 while doing indoor chores 🍽 🗑 🛠 . And, of course, can wear outside 🏡 when walking dog 🐕 , or just ‘going for a walk’ 🚶♀️, or gardening 🌷 🌻 🌹 & yard work 🍁 🍂 . . .
Can also wear under loose-fitting clothing when ‘running errands’ 🛒 🛍 . (Depending what you’re wearing, no one can tell you’ve a weight vest on under your top layer of clothing! ☺️ )
Just be aware of the length of time ⌚️ you’ve got the vest on to avoid ‘overdoing’ it. 😳 🙃
