"Journey to 100 is a world-exclusive conference that will explore ideas for a new and sustainable approach to lifelong health. The day will also kick start a 10-year project that aims to make Guernsey the first community in the world to break through the 100-year life expectancy barrier.
Co-curated by the Dandelion Foundation and James Maskell, founder of Evolution of Medicine, and hosted by Dr Rangan Chatterjee, the BBCβs Doctor in the House, Journey to 100 will host 20 leading global health, lifestyle and longevity experts, who will share their stories and help us to understand how we can live healthier, happier lives, from zero to 100 years old and beyond.
Join an international audience to learn why many health professionals and community leaders believe that healthy and happy ageing is not simply about medical advancements, but about our lifestyle, our diet and ultimately finding and enjoying our purpose in life.
Guernsey has the potential to show the world how factors such as community, purpose in life, preventative healthcare and a proactive approach to wellbeing could make it the first country to have an average life expectancy of 100.
Media medic Dr Rangan Chatterjee will host the conference programme, welcoming leading experts from a diverse spectrum of health, nutrition and wellness disciplines to the stage. Topics ranging from functional medicine to the importance of community will be presented via focused talks and panel discussions. The event will be live-streamed to a global audience, creating a platform for the island to be at the forefront of an international movement."

So sorry that I am not able to explain to Doctor the need to get better results from my meds and never hear about natural remedies just more stong pharmacy meds I have CREST form of RA. Not sure if the depression is from meds side effects, or the RA or lamenes of my body.
And, what do we do when they're not familiar with β or trained in 'natural' π₯ π remedies? π€
π€·ββοΈ π€·ββοΈ
The best I can say is learn as much as you can on your own to help yourself. π
And, if you're in a position to be able to find (& afford) a physician that aligns with your views, then go for it! π π πΊ π
.
If this helps at all, I've found that once we start to feel better 'physically', depression gradually subsides β spirits π» lift. π (Have found it to be a realistic hope βοΈ that has proven true for quite a few of us. π )
.
(More blathering π£ π¬ π¬ thoughts continued below if interested.)
Yet, thankfully π β blessedly π β they didn't discourage me either. π [For that, I'm immensely grateful. π ]
In fact, as they witnessed my doing well/ improving (not declining), they merely said (& continue to say), "keep doing what you're doing, you're doing well." βΊοΈ π
Yet, at the same time, (while witnessing my improvement) they didn't seem interested in discussing any of things I'd implemented. π³
(Head-scratching/ perplexing. π€ π )
[Therefore, I no longer attempt to broach the topic with a medic, unless they're genuinely interested.]
I'd attempted to share (gently, kindly, respectfully) with some of my medics (over the years) a few of the things (via videos, links) that explained the approaches/ techniques I'd implemented, yet those shared resources were met with silence. π€ π
No questioning, no follow up β seemingly no interest in discussing. π³ π€
The only 'sensible, reasonable' conclusion I can draw is that what I'm doing (dietary/ lifestyle-wise) is outside their bailiwick.
Maybe they just don't know how to respond? π€
Maybe they simply don't know what to say? π€
Maybe they're simply 'at a loss'? π€ π€·ββοΈ π€·ββοΈ
All they can see π π is I'm doing well & (I'm speculating) they may not wish to 'discourage' me by saying something(?) β so, they say nothing. π€
.
.
I ended up learning on my own β from the (thankfully π ) many free π ('reputable') resources found online.
That's the best I can share with you, cherilee60. π
(That's the best I can share with anyone who's working with a medical team who simply appears to be disinterested (or merely silent) when attempting to broach the topic of foods & lifestyle changes.)
Watch videos, read, learn as best you can on your own. π π
If possible, enlist the help of your loved ones to also help listen, read, & learn materials along with you. π
You really need the loving support of loved ones around you & for them to truly understand & help you day-to-day. π π βΊοΈ
[As you learn more & do more β over time (months, years) β you may well improve. π (That's what's happened for me. And, I wish that to happen for anyone who's sincerely interested in learning dietary/ lifestyle approaches & actually implementing techniques.)]
As you learn more & more over time, if you choose to implement any 'natural' techniques β kindly double check with your medical team to ensure anything you'd like to implement is SAFE for you & your unique condition(s) & won't interfere with any meds you may currently be on. π
We absolutely need our medics as a sound, well-reasoned check & balance βοΈ . As well as for routine monitoring π , testing π, etc.. They are a yet another key piece in the healing puzzle. [We need all the pieces to fall into place in order to see the big picture πΌ , so we can help ourselves along the way. π ]
I respect my medics' opinions, perspectives, & life-saving expertise. π π And, at the same time am cognisant that not all of our medical professionals are aware of (or even interested in) the healing approaches/ techniques of foods & lifestyle shifts. π³
I understand that our well-meaning, hard-working medical professionals who are strictly focused on what they've learned in their years of medical training & hard-earned education may become narrowly focused on 'pill' π & 'surgery' πͺ solutions. (Especially if that's been their sole focus, training, & practice for years β decades on end.) So, it's perfectly understandable how additional approaches (outside their area of intensive training) won't be on 'their radar'. π
Perhaps, one day, if(?)/ when(?) routine, medical training broadens out to include food & lifestyle education, then perhaps the root of chronic illnesses (autoimmune illnesses) can be better addressed? π€
I've much hope π for the future as new generations of medics with open, receptive perspectives come along & are interested in additional approaches. (Merely, respectfully, 'thinking aloud'.)
Kindly, keep the faith in you abilities, cherilee60. π
Please take kind & loving care of yourself, dear lady. π
