Thank you so much for posting that documentary, super juice me. U watched it. Was wonderful. Also thanks to Kai as I plan on watching those too. I know this can be done at home as well, but wouldn't it be nice to go to a place like that & be with others that did it with you? I'd loved to do that.🌻

Very welcome, Richgirl. 🙏

I know what you mean. It would be nice to go to a place where we're all doing the same thing at the same time. 👍

Friendly, supportive — where we could share the experience together. 👫 👬 👯

I guess a forum is 'the next best thing' for sharing experiences — even though it's remote . . . 👍

Now, if we can just get someone else to do all the juicing for us (& the clean-up afterwards)!!! 😁 😄

Hello Kai, thank u. Yes it would be so wonderful to be able to go there. I would even offer working there in exchange for the cost. However I do love to make my own juice m. I think it's part of the healing. But it's hard for me to get my hands working. Now the cleaning up afterwards would be nice to hand over to someone. Ha ha ha. I am so very grateful that we all have each other on the forum here. I think I'm going to get there recipes on healing juices & do it at home. That would be interesting & fun. Wishing u all the best🌻

Kai-- profile image
Kai-- in reply to Richgirl

Like your line of thinking, Richgirl. 👍

Yes, it's difficult — near impossible — if we're having a bad day & hands aren't working properly.

That's were slaves come in handy . . . (oops . . . sorry, sorry) . . . I mean, that's when servants . . . (wait, that didn't come out quite right either) . . . I mean that's when 'spouses, offspring, friends' . . . come I handy!! 😁 😆 😂 😉

_____

I know exactly what you mean.

Being able to prep the veg/ fruit, chopping, handling the juicer machine (or blender, if we choose to make smoothies) , yada yada yada . . . can be an ordeal if we're 'out of commission' that day. 🙃 😔 No fun.

Don't know if this a "better than nothing" (temporary) workaround, but may be worth a think:

On the days we feel up to it, making a bigger batch of whatever our usual juice 'potion' is . . .

That is, making a bigger than normal serving & putting aside the surplus for later use. Squeezing some lemon and/ or lime juice in our concoction (for preserving/ longevity) & placing it in fridge/ freezer-safe glass jars (with lids). Popping a few of the jars in the fridge or freezer for those 'emergency days'. 🤔

Richgirl profile image
Richgirl in reply to Kai--

Yes that sounds great. Also when u pour the juice into the jars, top it off all the way to the top so air can not stay in the jar. It makes all the nutrients & vit stay in your drink to last longer. I've read a lot of wonderful things about juicing. Who knows, maybe if we drank enough it could be our healing. I sure hope so. Here's what I think. We weren't born with these diseases, so it would make since that we can get rid of them as well. Anyway, we have to hold on to hope. Just because I want it to be true, doesn't make it true, but it can't hurt to try. Have u come across this man in your research? Dr John Bergman. He has a whole lot of videos on the web in how u can heal from things. It's uplifting to watch them.🌻

Kai-- profile image
Kai-- in reply to Richgirl

Oh I like that!! 🤗 Topping off so no air to hasten decomposition. 👍 👍 👍 Brilliant‼️ Thank you, kindly. 🙏 (Must remember 🙇 for next batch. ✔️ )

.

[Oh can top off for fridge ones 👍. Shouldn't top off for freezer ones though — cuz frozen liquid expands & bursts 💥 jar. 😱 (Did that with batch of soup (in 'regular' glass jars) early on. Oy vey! What a mess. 😝 ) Guess basic physics eludes some of us. 😳 😁 😂 ]

______

Like the way you put that — 'not being born with these diseases'. ✔️

Yes, we can certainly make efforts to try to get rid of them. 👍

______

Spot on! Couldn't agree with you more, Richgirl:

'Just because we want it to be true, doesn't make it true'. 😌

(No truer words spoken . . . 🙏 )

.

Yet, we sure as heck can give it a good try. 👍 👏 😃

[Have realised many of us have learned this in the 'school of hard knocks' (aka 'life experience'). 😳 It knocks us on the head 🙃🔨 with a heavy dose of reality. 😳 😯 😱 😁 ]

______

Yes, have come across Dr. John Bergman (videos: m.youtube.com/user/johnbchiro) via Thyroid forum ( healthunlocked.com/search/d... ). ✔️

He has much overlap with WFP-BD/L folks (Whole Foods Plant-Based Diet/ Lifestyle) I follow. 👍 😊

Have to smile, there's so much information (inspiration ✨ ) out there to 'jumpstart us' on our journey — and so many of them are saying same (or similar) things:

.

It's the food.

It's the lifestyle.

.

😂 😂 😂

.

Have to laugh. . . We can at least try to improve those 2 things (which are under our control) in the hope the 'ripple effect' will improve/ reverse/ heal our conditions. 👍 👍 👍

(Or, at the very least, attempt to avoid slipping further into decline. 🙏 )

[And, of course, lest anyone misunderstand, misinterpret, (inadvertently) misconstrue — all done under the watchful eye of our physicians (with meds as deemed appropriate) . . . ]

______

It works for some of us, so why not give it a go?!

No harm, no foul! 🙂

Yes, John Bergman is another source (free resource) of hope/ inspiration — to lift our spirits. 👻 👻

We need all the hope & spirit-lifting inspiration we can get to appeal to 'the better angels of our nature'. 🙏 😇 👼🏻

.

Yes yes yes I love your enthusiasm!!

Refrigerated juice only lasts a few days, of course, while freezer lasts longer.

And, of course, (I'd guess) the nutritional 'potency'/ value of the juice (or smoothie) is diminished by sitting in the fridge (or freezer) over time. Yet (I'd suspect) — 'it's better than nothing'. 🤔 👍

[Like John Kohler's ( google.com/search?as_q=%22J... ) fond of says "good, better, best" . . . 👍 Sometimes good is 'good enough' & we can fuss about 'better & best' when we've the luxury to do so . . . 😄 🙃 😳 😂 ]

_____

[I've done the fresh, fridge, & freezer method for quite some time — as juicing (as well as blender drinks/ smoothies) do indeed take time/ effort.] Yet, despite the 'inconvenience', the results are soooo worth it. 🤗 👍

That is, the freshness, peak flavour, & highest nutrient density is likely diminished from 'sitting around' in fridge / freezer — but 'something' is better than 'nothing'. (Merely my layman's opinion.)

_____

Oh, and of course, if you've the means & the option — there's juice bars & ready made 'green' health juices at shops. (I'd just be very very wary of ingredients, sugar content, etc. Tending to stay away from the 'fruit-based' juices & in favour of the 'veg-based' juices . . . ) Lot's of little things to be on the look-out for. 👀 😳 👍

You may already be well aware of 'all this stuff', Richgirl. (Merely 'blathering aloud.' 🗣 💬 💬 ) 😆

🍹 🍹

_____

Now when you're feeling up to it, you're welcome to come on over, make yourself at home, & squeeze as much juice as you like, & clean up afterwards . . . 😂 😂 😂

🙃 😉

.

[Below is a re-posting of some old info (about juicing & blenderising drinks (smoothies)) that may have some bits of interest/ use? 🙏 ]

Blenderising (Smoothies) & Juicing Considerations for Beginners:

[Originally posted (Feb. 2016) at: smoothies/juice: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... ]

.

Yes, absolutely filling & an 'easy way' to ingest veg (if you're not fond of 'eating vast quantities' of greens/ veg. (Can be easier to 'drink' them down rather than munch endlessly. 😉) I've never thought of them as appetite suppressants -- perhaps they are! 😉

Also, you're ingesting nutrient-dense veg & fruit -- whether you choose to blenderize (smoothies) and/or use a juicer. Either (or both) ways -- you can't go wrong.

.

To make smoothies, any blender will do to start off with. Just dive in & start experimenting & see what you like. Over time, if you find that you really like smoothies & you want to branch out into juicers, do your research & make sure you want to actually make juice. (It's 'work'.)

Juicing videos will show you what's actually involved in the process -- from beginning to end. [A lot of veg/ fruit prep work (washing, chopping, clean-up) but well worth the effort for nutritious/ delicious juice! 🍹 The pulp can be put into soups or compost -- if you'd prefer not to toss it.]

.

If you've the time/ energy (& fridge space) -- seriously consider a juicer, nath123! 😊

Have had good luck with Tribest Slowstar Vertical Juicer & Mincer [Love it to pieces❣] (Frightfully expensive -- but should last many years if used/ maintained properly.)

.

'John Kohler' (okraw guy) videos to show how to use juicers properly. He also compares all types of juicers (in various price ranges) so there's a juicer for every type of juicing preference & budget. 🙂

Again, juicing is 'work', but doable If you don't mind the time & effort.

.

I'd recommend blender drinks 1st as a starting point to ensure you don't mind doing the work to make the smoothies. You learn as you go & have fun experimenting with new concoctions! 😉

Hope this helps, nath123. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. 🤗

Kind regards,

Kai

[Originally posted (Feb. 2016) at: smoothies/juice: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... ]

.

Very understandable, nhs2015! 😊

If this helps at all clear up some misconceptions:

.

🍀 Quite a few folks who use a juicer or blender for making drinks don't necessarily make solely fruit-based drinks. (Many use juicer or blenders for vegetable-based drinks -- not fruit. (If folks add a bit of fruit, it's to make the drink palatable/ drinkable.) 😋

.

🍀 Fully agree, 4-5 squeezed oranges in a single serving is a bit too much sugar for anyone (dieting to lose weight or not)! 😉 Fully agree, eating a whole (peeled) orange 🍊 is ideal as you get full nutrients w fiber. Typically such delicious fruits are eaten whole (citrus, berries, melons, etc.) because they're so delicious as is. (Why would anyone need to juice them in the 1st place?! 😉) Again, any fruit added to a juicer/ blender is typically used to enhance flavour or add nutrients -- not as sole ingredient or base of drink.

.

🍀 Agreed, adding another gadget -- whether a blender or juicer -- in the kitchen takes up finite counter (or cupboard) space. 😉 (And, if it's something you're not going to actually use, is an annoyance/ irritant having to continually moving it 'out of the way' -- as well as 'waste of money' if you're not going to routinely use it.)

.

🍀 It is indeed 'one more thing' to have to clean. (That's why you really need to do your research (watch videos) to see what's actually involved in maintaining a juicer.) Cleaning is an annoyance if your not aware of (prepared for) what's involved. If it becomes too much of a time-sink annoyance/ burden, you'll simply stop using it. And, yes indeed, you'll end up giving it away! 😉 It's really a device for someone committed to juicing (typically veg heavy) for health purposes.

.

🍀 Agreed: don't acquire a juicer under the wish/ hope/ belief it will "cure" anything. Improving your overall nutrition may help improve (go toward healing) an ailment -- but don't set yourself up for 'false hope' thinking you'll be magically 'cured' of anything if you merely ingest fresh squeezed juice.

.

Sample drinks (blender and/ or juicer) for health:

🍹 healthunlocked.com/fibromya...

🍹 healthunlocked.com/fibromya...

🍹 healthunlocked.com/fibromya...

🍹 healthunlocked.com/healthye...

.

Best start with simple blenderised veg-based drinks. Once you've had a bit of blenderising experience -- over time -- and if you still have a need/ 'burning desire' 😉 to jump into 'juicing' -- do a lot of research before spending any money on a juicer. It's a serious commitment of time, effort, money, & counter space. 😉

.

[💡 Idea: If you've a friend with a juicer, perhaps they'll kindly show you or even allow you to try it. 🤗 You'll see how much work is involved (ingredient prep, machine set-up & operation, clean-up, pulp re-use, etc.). No better way to grasp what's involved than to experience it 1st hand! 😉 ]

Best wishes (& good health) for whatever anyone chooses to do! 😊

Kind regards,

Kai

Berry Delicious Green Smoothie*

This smoothie can be prepared with your choice of berries, fruits, and vegetables. We add walnuts or chia seeds and flax for valuable omega 3s, fiber, and other nutrients. This recipe is our favorite combination.

.

Ingredients:

• 8-10 ounces strawberries, frozen or fresh

• 1 cup water

• 1/2 carrot, washed and chopped into 1-inch pieces

• Several washed and chopped leaves kale

• 1 apple, washed and chopped with seeds and core removed

• 1/2 cucumber, washed and chopped

• 2 Tablespoons Chia seeds, ground or soaked overnight to soften

• 1 Tablespoons flax seeds, ground

• 2-3 Tablespoons of walnuts can be used in place of the chia and/or flax

.

Directions:

1. Use a coffee grinder to grind your flax and/or chia seeds. These can be stored ground in the fridge for up to a week and for several months in the freezer.

2. In a blender, add all the ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy. Adding more water if necessary for desired consistency.

.

Note: If you prefer your smoothie at room temperature, and not cold, let the frozen berries defrost before using, or use boiling water in the smoothie to warm it up.

Enjoy any time of day.
