I have cirrhosis and an enlarged spleen with varices. I am also a type 2 diabetic and about 2 stone overweight. In January this year I decided to go low carb, highish fat and protein. I lost two and a half stone in about 3 months and was able to stop injecting insulin. I usually have a large bowl of

New to this
Hi everyone, I have dabbled in LCHF and found I generally feel better on this way of eating...I have IBS that is triggered by carbs. I have been tested for coeliacs but thankfully do not have this. How do you maintain this lifestyle long term? I can do it for a bit then find I go off the rails and on

Test results. Antibodies even higher than before!!
Hi, I am totally confused. Following my first test results from medichecks back in April I have been following a strict gluten-free diet. Some of my symptoms have decreased and I’ve lost a bit of weight too! I thought I’d do a follow up and found my antibodies are even higher than before! I know there

Metformin and Berberine
Hi All...I'm learning a lot from your previous posts. Thank you! Thus far, Metformin and/or Berberine seem to be worthy of further consideration. Although there does not appear to be convincing scientific evidence of their effectiveness for PCa patients (absent diabetes), both your reported experience

Hey all, nice to meet you!
I am 27 years old. 2 years ago I was 104 KGs. Following a strict low carb diet and 5 day High Intensity workout plan I managed to reach 76 KGs.. No this is not a success story, I got cocky and for the past 4-5 months I ignored my training and didn't track my food. As of today I am back at 94 KGs. So

Multi nodular goitre
Hello all. I just had another scan (not yet got GP's comments) but was informed I (still) have a multinodular goitre (as far as I know same as 20 years ago no treatment). Swelling worse on left side, again I expected this as swallowing difficult for past year. Had private Medichecks tests, took to

Baked mashed cauliflower bubble and squeak with crunchy topping. 🌶
Hi everyone, I thought I'd make a bubble and squeak using mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes as it sounded good after chatting about it on here. I cooked a cauliflower, curly Kale, hot chilli and red onion. I mashed the par cooked veg with some peanut butter and vegetable stock, spread it in a baking

Low Carb Diet May Shorten Life
Having been Type I Diabetic since childhood my ears pricked up when I heard this on the news his morning := https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-45195474 Because of my diabetes I have been carb counting for over half a century. Some consultants have had different ideas (mainly in the seventies) but these

Does LCHF give you headaches at first?
I tried to go LCHF yesterday but ended up with a bad headache. I do suffer sometimes with them so not sure if it’s connected. Do you feel a bit bad for about four days? Then it gets better? X

Everyone needs a rant sometimes - Especially with Endo!
So I don't post on here very often but I feel like I need a rant and where else better to do it! So I am always in a constant battle to look after myself as best I can - After growing up watching my mum suffer with Endo for years when there was no info out there about it I now feel that it is my duty

cholesterol result 20 after taking Jardiance for T2 diabetes.
Hi everyone, I just found this site after searching for help on reducing my cholesterol. I have been on a low carb high fat/protein diet for 20 years since being diagnosed with T2 Diabetes. I was given Statins for cholesterol but they caused severe pain & carpal TS. Today I have been put on Bezalip

Thinking about trying low carb high fat way of eating
Do you still stick within your calories range on the LC/HF way of eating? Can you eat cream? Obviously without all the sugary things that go with it xxx

Crap day, brusque Doctor
I have menopause kicking my ass as well as thyroid. I’m having a bad day. I should put a sack over my head really and stay in a corner. The thing that is upsetting me most today apart from the endless lack of energy and the constant aches, pains and stiffness in my joints and non-functioning brain,

Things that helped T4/NDT therapy.
I thought we can share some things that made a difference for us energy wise or in hypo well being, either in good or bad ways. Things that have helped my energy, and made me feel that thyroxine was working better: Selenium (100 mcg/day). People in Europe/New Zealand are deficient in it, USA is

Low-carb breakfast
Posting photos on the internets isn't really my thing, but I thought some people might be interested in a LCHF breakfast. That's home-cured bacon, mushrooms, scrambled free-range eggs with fresh oregano, stir-fried sweet potato leaves and daylilies, and butterfly pea flowers (yes, they're edible - taste
