I went to A&E yesterday with severe pain for the second time in two months. Diagnosed with acute recurring hepatitis
Hi all, I just wanted to post an update on my previous posts. I went to hospital on Wednesday as an outpatient where I had an endoscopy done. This was arranged by the consultant I saw in November after going to A&E in October, when I had very high LFT results. I decided to have the throat spray without

Why iron is such an important part of your diet
Anaemia can often develop with CLL, both during Watch and Wait (haemoglobin falling under 10/100 is one of the triggers for starting treatment), and during treatment, when blood transfusions may be required. About time SEPSIS was targeted ... sepsis kills more cancer patients than cancer its self. With any infection cancer your blood gets tired worn down SHOULD blood transfusions be more readily available . Its great to see Immunotherapies move beyond cancer, with foray into sepsis. https://www.statnews.com

No chemo today - blood transfusion instead - any anaemia tips?
Real downer yesterday (I had it in my head that my last chemo would be in 2016 and 2017 would be all about recovery) to be told no chemo today (no. 5 of 6) as am severely anaemic. Instead am having 2 units of blood. Does anyone else on Carbo have experience of anaemia? And do blood transfusions help

At last I've found you all
Hi everyone, Recently I joined this forum as last yr, I had debilatating Anaemia fr Jan until May. My body wasn't digesting Ferrous Fumerate so my iron intake didn't increase, even tho my levels were low & below average, my GP wouldn't refer me for liquid Iron Infusions. GP advised me to ask my Rheumatologist

Our story
I am a 34 year old wife and mother My family and I have been through a world wind of events to say I’m grateful we are together would be a gross understatement. This is my story, the one God gave me to share, but it wouldn’t be complete without first telling you ourstory. On our 4th wedding anniversary

RA & Anemia
Hi all - hope you are doing well. I come here today with a question about iron deficiency anemia and rheumatoid arthritis. I have been anemic my whole life - I had PICA as a kid where I ate sand and crayons and other weird stuff because I had such a severe mineral deficiency and this wasn't detected

Results from Blue Horizon
As per my original post and advice: I got my results from Blue Horizon, the pdf was zero bytes, so I have sent of for the actual results to be sent again. This is the comments, not that I understand the last paragraph.

What a Rollercoaster
So after being elated that dad was moved from London back to our local hospital things then seemed to go downhill pretty fast. They just didn't seem to be doing anything for him and it was so frustrating after he has pulled through so much. Now faced with kidneys failing and paralysed vocal chords.

Dr Says I'm not Hypo - can anemia wreak havoc on thyroid?
This will be a little long winded, so I do apologise. To give you some history - my mother and sister both had fibroyd tumours. My mother had Grave's disease and later thyroid cancer. She went through absolute hell trying to get the right treatment. I developed fibroids when I became pregnant in 1999

Whatever next?.
As if having cirhossis wasn't bad enough, I seem to be gaining a new illness every month. Recently my face dropped on left side along with chronic pains in my left foot, elbow and ear. Turned out to be bells palsy and periphial neuropathy which I have to now take pregablin tablets for life. The latest

Liver disease or not ....16 weeks and counting
Found out October 3rd have Hepatitis C most likely from a blood transfusion when aged 10-11 years of age, Checked with hospital where I have been referred and 16 weeks minimum until first appointment to assess my status... Current symptoms are bouts of extreme fatigue, feeling physically weak, joint

Wegener's granulomatous (vasculitis.)
I was diagnosed with wegener's back in 2008. My first treatment was primarily cyclophosphamide . Sadly I had a bad reaction to it in that it seemed to stop my body producing blood. I nearly died and had to have emergency transfusion. They switched my medication to no avail to prednisolone and azathioprine

Recent diagnosis of Hep C
OK.. three weeks ago was diagnosed with Hepatitis C which i could have contracted from a blood transfusion 50 years ago or a brief period of drug use 40 years ago. My ALT level has been 75 for some years but now reads 92 (I think it is ALT anyway), Had ultrasound when reading was 75 but no hep C blood

Last chemo delayed
Hello Ladies, I was looking forward to getting my last chemo but, alas, it did not happen. My bloods were at 7.8 so I had to have a transfusion. I think we all agree that it's just so draining sitting in the one attitude for so long, but that's the way it has to be. I actually feel a lot better than
