Mum, COVID-19 and in ICU (4 weeks).
Hi all, I joined this yesterday after desperately searching for some support as my mum has been ill the last few weeks with COVID-19. Reading through your posts has given me some comfort & hope. My mum was admitted to hospital in the UK on 11/04/2020, with what they initially thought was pneumonia

Is this fairly normal?
So my Dad is in rehab and is doing well with the physios and hopes to be home by the end of this month but he seems to be needing regular blood transfusions because his iron is too low. He only had one about 10 days ago and then an iron infusion and yesterday he got the same. I am still waiting on talking

How to get cell counts back to normal after Radium 223 (Xofigo) first dose?
Since my Dad had his first dose of Radium 223 (Xofigo), a few months ago now, his cell counts; Neutrophils, white blood cells, Heamoglobin and platelets have decreased. There was mention of a blood transfusion but I don't think it is necessary yet. He obviously can't continue with his treatment until

Covid-19: rough morning
Hi all, We had a rough morning today. Dad’s heart went into a-fib, and he is still bleeding from his bladder. He is on heparin because he is still hypercoagulable so we are in this catch22- his blood is so thin that the bleed won’t stop, but we cant stop the heparin or else he will clot again. He

Thank you to everyone, time out has given me a chance to reflect
Hi All Firstly, thank you to everyone who kindly messaged me when I said I needed time out. I have had a chance to do some reflecting. In truth, I have not been in the best of places despite me trying to convince myself that I am okay. To summarise, I have a very complex gynaecological history involving

Cancer care in this new world
I went to my Cancer Centre yesterday for a blood transfusion. It was quite an interesting experience. First of all the hospital car park was empty and free! Then inside there was a receptionist and nobody else and I reported where I needed to go. The receptionist offered to take me there in a wheelchair

How to remain positive?
how do you remain positive with the rollercoaster of emotions? We hear negative as well as positive things regarding mom and her treatment plan and progress in the ICU. Last night she was reacting and responding, today she can hardly keep her eyes open. Her ventilator settings are going up and down

Intermittent GI bleeds with Atrophic Gastrititis?
Does anyone here that has Atrophic Gastritis have occasional GI bleeds? I suffer from them and it sometimes puts me in the hospital for blood transfusions if my Hemoglobin drops too low. Here in the USA, they won't give blood unless Hgb is less then 7 and I can't seem to get mine higher than 8, even
