Post RA diagnosis return to Sports or NOT.
Prior to RA coming on overnight I was very keen and active in most Outdoor Pursuits (Skiing, Trail Running, Mt Biking, Kayaking, Open Water
Swimming
etc), one of my reasons for moving to Scotland to complete Munroes (now done).

Vacation time?
Muscle loss is noticable and has caused some issues when I try some of my old
swimming
/bodysurfing routines. (I'm 77) . Reason for all this is that I'm considering a drug vacation to build some strength back. My MO is a bit reluctant but less so recently.

CT scan booked - worried
Since this discovery, I have lost 20 pound, my recent HBA1C is avg 55, blood pressure is avg 120/75 and I am
swimming
/walking twice a week without any problems. BUT they are very insistent that I must have coronary problems and are saying I MUST have a CT with contrast.

This is a long one
I’m
swimming
more and going out more. I feel I’m back to being me. My HA and the illnesses were not allowed to mention made me feel so nervous about exercise and going out. AND I HAD NEVER BEEN TOLD I WAS AN OLD LADY BEFORE. I never thought of myself as old even though my age has been discussed.

feeling the cold
the thought of
swimming
, although I'd love to do something in addition to the daily walking, fills me with horror because of getting into cold water, getting out and being cold.

Exercise: Regular exercise, such as
swimming
, yoga, and tai chi, can help improve mobility, flexibility, and balance, and may also have a positive impact on mood and quality of life.

How I reinvented myself after PMR diagnosis
The one joy that I did have is that I rediscovered my love of
swimming
and I found out that not only did it help my mental health, but being in the water was the one time when I didn't feel pain. A little of my old stamina started to come back.

CATCH-up-CORNER... WEEK 2...If You're Wise...
I am sure that all of us can find exercises to fit into a regular routine...Yoga, Pilates, dancing, walking , stretching, flexing,
swimming
, hiking, etc. etc. Exercise to be done inside, outside, in a chair, after injury.... you name it and it is there.

How to improve your blood pressure
The foods listed above are also good for magnesium, as is fish, as is
swimming
in the sea, temperature allowing! In essence, up your fruit and vegetable intake. Leaning more to a higher amount of vegetables. Avoid fruit juice in concentrated form as this is too much sugar.

New to this...
The pandemic and then this injury impacted my gym going and yoga practice, but those have also been important, as have
swimming
and rowing. My doctor referred me to a rheumatologist who I will see in early April.

Heat and humidity in swimming pools
Does anyone know if the heat and humidity of a public
swimming
pool can affect Afib and heart rate - I mean just as a spectator, not hurtling down the tubes !
