Keep Active to Stay Healthy
After my kidney transplant in 2012, I experienced two below-knee amputations in the next two years. I learnt to walk using two prosthetic legs, aided by two walking sticks. I am encouraged to keep active to stay healthy, so I go on twice weekly walks, one with my walking coach, and twice weekly gym sessions

Mushroom and tomato savoury crumble gluten free and vegan 🥘
Hi everyone, I think its a bit chilly for the time of year and I fancied some healthy comfort food, so I made a large savoury crumble. I used 225g of ground quinoa and plain gf flour (total) 110g coconut oil 1 teaspoon of low salt bouillon and whizzed it up in my food processor. I had bought too many

Orthorexia
I've been listening to a podcast series, which spent some time talking about eating disorders. A relatively newly recognised eating disorder is orthorexia, which is an obsession with healthy eating. As this is a healthy eating forum, I thought it might be a good idea to share the signs and symptoms,

The vitamin B6 paradox: Supplementation with high concentrations of pyridoxine leads to decreased vitamin B6 function
The taking of B-complexes, and of just B6, has often been disussed here. I, along with several others, have pointed out that high doses of B6 should be avoided as they can cause neuropathy - one of the symptoms that it is sometimes taken to help relieve. This paper, from 2017 and hitherto completely

How to stop stress eating
I'm feeling very stressed lately due to some problems with my boss, traveling home for holidays and the new business I started with my boyfriend. Stress always makes me eat more, especially snacks, which I recently stopped doing. I was really proud of my self for it but I don't feel like I can sustain

How to stop escitalopram
Hi, I’ve been taking 10mg of escitalopram for about 18months. Generally they’ve helped with my depression/anxiety but side effects are horrid. I am constantly having head and neck sweating this is making me stressed and in turn anxious etc etc. Anyway I have decided to see what life is about without

Just don't know what else to do...
Hey guys, I have been over weight my entire life and have struggled with it massively. I am well educated in what I need to eat and try my best to do this, I have always tried to keep active as I don't drive and there's very little buses in my area. It just seems I have tried everything from weight

Vegetable curry with home made curry sauce 🌶
Hi everyone, Well after all this talk of making curry sauces and the poll on frozen veg. I made a curry with white onions sweet peppers and garlic diced gently cooked in olive oil for the curry paste base. When they were soft and just starting to go golden around the edges I added some chick pea flour

My lunch yesterday: Fresh Air, and a Hike - Fasted 24 hours yesterday.
So, yesterday I fasted 24 hours again. I am really loving these long fasts. I can tell that my stomach is shrinking, because I honestly never feel hungry, but that could be because I cut out sugars and carbs, however, yesterday I was trying to fast and was having weird cravings, because the day before

How can I recover from Bulimia?
Eighteen years of torture from my 'bully' has left me completely dysfunctional, exhausted and hating life (I am now 36). I have no life; all I ever do is binge, purge and panic. I cannot stop. I have tried everything; counselling, CBT, Anti-depressants, self help, distraction techniques. This grip it

OCD taking over my life!
I was diagnosed at the age of six with OCD and a few years ago told that I was also suffering with Emetophobia. Before this I was told it was just my OCD. I’m literally petrified of getting vomiting and Diarrhoea. It literally takes over my life. I can’t eat out without taking my own cutlery, avoid

Beginning
I’ve been struggling with my weight for all my life. Yo-yo-ing back and forth between two extremes. Having body dysmorphia at 130 lbs and thinking I was obese, to now struggling to stay motivated and disciplined at 190 pounds and needing to lose weight. If anyone knows a great way to get started on

Weight Gain With Zyprexa (Olanzapine)
Hi All, I have been feeling emotional recently due to weight gain. I take Zyprexa 10mg, one per day, and I have gained a lot of fat on my belly. I don't know how much weight I've gained - I haven't checked. But I have noticed it on my belly. This is making me feel down. I go to the gym every now and
