How to stop escitalopram

Hi, I’ve been taking 10mg of escitalopram for about 18months. Generally they’ve helped with my depression/anxiety but side effects are horrid. I am constantly having head and neck sweating this is making me stressed and in turn anxious etc etc. Anyway I have decided to see what life is about without these meds. Question is how should I do it. My doc says one week at 10mg, 5mg 10mg etc then straight down to 5mg in the second week. I think this seems a bit quick and wondered if anyone can help with maybe their own experience.
