Iron deficiency anaemia and b12 deficiency
I have had a serious bout of iron deficiency anaemia when my haemoglobin count went down to 6 and I had to have 2 blood transfusions. Before that I thought I might have B12 deficiency because of some symptoms which were probably anaemia, but also because of numbness and tingling in my feet. My GP said

My History
I'm Niall and am now almost 67 and was diagnosed in Oct 2013, PSA 620 and out of 12 cores in my biopsy, 10 were normal and a Gleason 3+4 in one and 4+4 in the other. Widespread metastases in all my vertebrae and ribs, a little at the top of my right femur and one in my skull. No organ or visceral involvement

Pre Scleroderma Confusion
After alot of back and forth I have recently been told I am "pre-scleroderma" whatever that means. The rheumatologist wasn't exactly clear about any of it and the reading I have done is just confusing me more and more. Can anyone spell it out simply for me please... I originally went to the doctor with

Sjorgrens. Do you have swallowing difficulties?
Hi. Continuing my search for answers. I still have no feeling beyond my throat. Pharynx? Do you have this? Is it called a thickening? How do you cope with it? I still feel unwell. My face is covered in spots which I cannot clear despite all the adverts cures etc. I drink at least 10 pints of water

Another update
Saw my rheumatologist today, confirmed I have CREST, got to have barium swallow to see what damage has been done to my oesophagus & may need referral for lungs, but apart from that, I'm doing fine.

Swallowing trigger for atrial arrythmia
About 20 years ago I battled atrial ectopic beats and some afib. All the tests were negative so it remained a mystery. The one thing that made me unique was the fact that every time I swallowed, the normal rhythm was disturbed by pauses and ectopic beats. Occasionally this resulted in a bout of afib.
