Does anyone know anything about the use of deflazacort instead of prednisone for PMR?
Searching the web tonight for prednisone information, I came across deflazacort for the first time. It seems to have better characteristics in terms of less bone loss and other side effects. The article I found (link below) talks about kidney transplantation; does anyone know whether it is being used

Pred and Thrombosis
Hi, Still relatively new here. Was diagnosed with PMR in August and put on 20mg Pred/day. It was like someone had waved a magic wand – the pain vanished overnight. Have now been tapered down to 10Mg/day and can feel the pain occasionally in my arm muscle – the one that was most affected. But this is

Finding joy
Does anyone ever wonder if they will ever find joy again? I have a loving, amazing family but since the anxiety and depression that has resulted from the ptsd has come into my life a few years ago, I find no joy in anything and most days feel like I am going through the motions. My therapist tells

Ativan every other day?
Hi...my dr said I can take 1 mg of Ativan every day or every other day as needed. I have severe anxiety, depression and ptsd. I am also on an Ssri and a mood stabilizer. I am 63 so who cares about dependency I guess. I also have an autoimmune disease that is going to probably do me in sooner rather

Missed tablets
Last night, for the first time in a year or so I missed taking my Lodotra (4mg). This morning I am in no pain. Could this possibly mean my adrenals are perhaps working after all? Having aggressive OA I have often wondered if the pain I have daily is mostly OA and not PMR.

Lupron or orchiectomy
For economic reasons I am contemplating orchiectomy. I say “contemplating” because, the idea occurred some time ago and I haven’t yet done it. My next orchiectomy “window “ comes up at month’s end when my 3 month Lupron is scheduled. My wife had pretty much talked me into another postponement,

Oxford vaccine stimulates broad antibody and T cell functions.
Today, researchers from the University of Oxford have published further data from the Phase I/II clinical trials of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 coronavirus vaccine, evidencing the decision to move to a two-dose regimen in ongoing phase III trials, and how ChAdOx1 nCov-19 is induces broad antibody and T cell

Israeli experts show that some already widely used drugs help fight COVID-19.
I stumbled across this while searching for vaccine safety information for my wife- she has both LUPUS and antiphosopholipid syndrome. Looks like statins, Pepcid, Anti-cholesterol fibrates, and even Viagra can help tamp it down. I'm on 3 of them plus Vit D & C. Time to make a reservation at my favorite

Macular degeneration
I have been receiving injection in my eye since September 2019, for what I thought was a gramuloma in the macula.. I asked the nurse today what I have a she said macular degeneration. The eye dr never mentioned this to me, she just kept telling me injection were for fluid or odema ... I am worried

Finding a Personalized Approach To Treating Chronic Rejection After Lung Transplantation.
Two new papers examine the processes of lung scarring and chronic rejection of the organ after transplantation, and potential therapies to stop the graft, or transplanted organ and its tissue, from failing. “Chronic graft failure due to progressive scarring is the number one worry of all transplant

Update on my 5 mos old red retriever named Ryland
Ry has given our family such joy after getting diagnosed aPCA in Jan during covid pandemic. This is was the best time to finally get a family dog. She has been great, keeps me active, alive and focused. Got up off the mat as I am now recovering well from a 4.3 cm benign meningioma of the left frontal

Anti-coagulant (Rivaroxaban)
I have always been OK with taking anti-coagulants, until Saturday that is. A few years ago I had what I thought was an ear infection. Turned out to be MRSA. Since then I have regular 3 monthly check up`s and ear suctioning as I have something called cholestoma. (Excuse spelling). Saturday I went to the

Clingy
I feel as though i expect too much from my friends and tend to treat them more like items and not individuals , they’re people with their own issues and their own identities and desires , I’ve come to realize that i may not be great with platonic relationships, internally i get clingy and irrational
