reduction uncertainty
I reduced to 8ml on 5th March and am reducing to 7ml today after my doctor’s appointment yesterday. My uncertainty is whether to follow his suggestion to just do that in one go or follow a tapering plan. He’s fine with either. The reduction to 8ml has been ok but not as settled as reducing to 9ml

Minor surgery and pred
Has anyone had minor surgery with general anesthetic while on less than 5 pred? I was told that 5 was the magic number they were interested but am wondering if they just ignore the steroids all together lower than 5. I will be flourishing that steroid treatment card for sure! Just to be on the safe

painful shoulders after dead slow taper to 2mg.
I was diagnosed with PMR in March 2019. I’ve finally managed to get to 2.25mg prednisone on a slow taper taking a month for 0.25mg drop. I also take Leflonamide which was doubled to 20mg a month ago to deal with probable RA in my hands. (Pain and swelling. It has helped). I’m diabetic due to steroids

Low carbs
Im 2 years in on my PMR journey with a really bad flare last July. Which took me back to the beginning. After reading on here about eating a low carb diet. I got out my 800 fast keto book and started cooking from it. Where I don’t stick to 800 I do try to be no more than 1,200 calories. And no more

A few developments - anybody got similar
Don’t want to bore you all but I have had a couple of developments recently apart from having my Rituximab extended for another year. Firstly I am on statins since last Thursday, I am fit, I get out, eat a low carb/high fibre diet but my cholesterol is around 7 so it just shows you. No after effects

Metabolic symptoms at 3am
With increasing frequency, I wake up at about 3am feeling unusually hot, like a hot flash. Lasts about 30 minutes. As it tends to follow a larger than normal evening meal, with some alcohol, I don't think it is hormone related. If this is some kind of transient metabolic phenomenon - is it more likely

Low Testosterone Linked With Mortality Risk in Aging Men - by Jeff Minerd , Contributing Writer, MedPage Today May 13, 2024
No way to know if this is applicable to those on ADT, but it would seem to be relevant for consideration. The highlighted portion is a useful guide on male sex hormone targets for those testing them. These results might also add support for Morgentaler's "Saturation Model" for testosterone. Full

CLL, Alcalabrutinib, Low Testosterone
“Hi Thanks everyone who responded to my last post “CLL, Alcalabrutinib, Gout & Steroids” it really does help. Usually i find myself on this site when i’m at my lowest, usually when a new side effect takes hold. My haematologist has never once accepted that what im experiencing is a side effect

New to PMR
I have recently been diagnosed with PMR, symptoms cleared up dramatically on 20mg prednisolone, slowing reducing and now on 12.5mg. I am having some muscle stiffness in the morning after doing exercise, mainly from doing workouts with light weights. Should I continue or just do body weight workout? Any

Flare treatment
Have had a ‘good’ run from 30 to 7mg but been feeling rotten of late. It’s like my steroids, HRT snd Levothyroxine have all suddenly stopped working and my mood has plummeted. Suspect it might be adrenal glands but now have a PMR flare to deal with. I had a dose of cold couple of months ago and some

Sore top of the head / scalp after steroids
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has a sore top of the head / scalp after they take steroids? I added this comment to my main post about Mum's health but wanted to open a new one just incase anyone else has experienced this ache. Have a great weekend.

Recurrent implantation failure - please give me hope
Hello my lovely support team. I'll try and keep this rotten history of mine very very brief.......43 years old, all embryos created between 40-42. Trying since I was 36. Just one natural chemical at 41yo. So far, 5 failed transfers of 6 good-decent embryos. All bfn, no chemicals or anything else. 4 collections

STUCK IN A PRED RUT
I first posted in 2018.. Since then I have managed to reduce from 20mg with pain and flares to 7mg. I am having nose bleeds and the ENT Consultant has told me to ‘get off’ the steroids. I have for the last 10 days 1/4mg daily reduction. It has been agony. Shoulder and upper leg pain, brain fog
