Hi, Three years ago I developed severe asthma which lead to me being hospitalised 4 times in 18 months and having to have I'v steroids and antibiotics subsequently I've been diagnosed with brocho malaria and adrenal insufficiency. My consultant put me on spiriva respimant, symbicort and Alvesco inhalers 2 puffs twice daily I'm also having to take hydrocortisone 20mg for the adrenal insufficiency since beginning on these along with an antibiotic 1 three times a week and montelukast I've not had any chest infections or asthma flair ups but I'm wondering should I ask my consultant to reduce my medication. I have also just been diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer and need to have a mastectomy and reconstruction
Many thanks
Mary

Thats a lot!! Glad that the asthma is under control. I think that you need to get your respiratory consultant and oncologist to talk to each other. Its really hard to get doctors of different specialities to come up with a plan. Do you have a decent GP? is it possible that the GP will liase for you? I know that very often people with cancer take steroids, So it is important that if the oncologist wants you to take them, that they liase with the respiratory doctors to titrate the amounts. I suspect you may need a consultant pharmacologist to work out what you need to take in terms of medicine interactions.
I'm not sure this is any help. But don't stop taking anything without indepth consultation with all teams.
