GCA and Osteoporosis
Hi I was diagnosed with GCA a few months ago and been taking a high dose of steroids which I had just tapered down to 17.5mg. I was sent for a Dexter scan over a week ago and my Rheumy rang me on Wednesday to say I had oesteoporosis which was a bit of a shock as I’m only 52. She also told me that

subacute thyroiditis and pregnant
Hi all, I am 6 weeks pregnant and on the 1st of September I was diagnosed with subacute thyroiditis (bloods and ultrasound). I was admitted to A&E as I had a fever and a high hart rate (145). The first endocrinologist that saw me said that normally they would start with NSAIDs but as I am pregnant

Awaiting MRI result
Hi. I wondered how long people had waited before receiving results of an MRI scan? Having developed tinnitus (constant white noise rather than ringing) for about a month, I then got sudden deafness in one ear and was referred to ENT promptly. Had high dose oral steroids and then injected steroid

Confusing advice from Rheumatologist
I recently had a short synacthen test for my adrenal glands, the second one since 2015 when I was diagnosed with GCA and PMR! When I had the first test in November 2018 I was on 6mg of Pred daily and 10 mg of Metotrexate weekly, I was notified that there was a “degree of adrenal suppression and that

I wish there was a "Reply All" button ! I just wanted to thank all of you who responded to my Post "How Much Can I Bear?". Your comforting words and sympathy has meant so much to me at what has been the most difficult and harrowing time of my life. I have always known this was an amazingly supportive

How do you know
If PMR has gone/burned out??? Just curious Oh, I don't have PMR, I have Palindromic Rheumatism. Treated with steroids, very similar symptoms to PMR, just a lot rarer! I had to tell my consultant what I had - he thought PMR - I educated him! Stay safe foks

Help!!
Hey Everyone, Really hoping someone can help been going round in circles for sooo long. I get constant mouth sores it has been going on for over a year now, but they are not always the typical mouth full of ulcers people seem to get with Bechet's, sometime the ulcers are just one at a time , some times

Methotrexate injections and bleeding.
I had been on 15mg mtx injections for 7 months about to increase to 20mgs. However, they discovered blood in stool as well as increased size in blood cells. MTX was stopped, and I had a colonscope as well as endoscopy to find source of bleeding. Nothing sinister was found apart from a few polyps.

RA and Fibromyalgia
I have been told I have RA maybe 4 years ago now but it has just got gradually worse with some better periods. No meds have worked for me the better periods were when off any drugs but have had worse times when off drugs too. I am wondering if i could have fibromyalgia as well or instead of I don't

New diagnosis osteoporosis
Morning Everyone, I've just been notified I have osteoporosis after I mentioned to my GP Practice that I'd not had a scan for many years. I've been told about zoledronic acid which they want to give me. I thought my diet was quite good but she said its likely the long term RA, menopause, steroids over

Steroids and sleep.
On Sunday, after a day of low O2 sats , shakiness and increasing breathlessness I went to A&E. I was seen very quickly and it was decided I had the beginning of a chest infection. , despite none of the usual symptoms. I had already started my Prednisolone but was told to take the antibiotics as well

15th Ocrevus infusion
I had my 15th Ocrevus infusion today. I did fairly well this time with the crap gap but we went back to 5 months. Feeling well tonight although I probably won't get ti sleep until about 4 AM from the steroids but also moving really smoothly and arthritic knees not screaming, also the steroids. I'll enjoy

Steroid injection & Fibro.
Evening everyone, I hope you are all managing one way or another.😊 I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had a steroid injection for something not connected to Fibro and if so did you find it helped your fibro pain immensely for a few weeks after? It happened to me but i'm just wondering if it was

Insatiable appetite because of pred
Never realised just how powerful these steroids were, how do people cope with this, currently on 55mg Pred daily (GCA) I’m just eating anything and everything, never satisfied, bloody frightened to get on scales. Before treatment started a month ago, I’d lost a stone down to 13.5 st…. Just a distant

PMR symptoms or flare of Stills Disease?
I was diagnosed with Adult onset Stills Disease aged 17. Symptoms are rash, fever, sore throat, fatigue, bilateral stiff painful joints. I’m 60 now and apart from pain relief have been drug free since my mid 20s. I recall my medication as enteric coated aspirin, steroids, iron, distalgesics and Indocid
