With increasing frequency, I wake up at about 3am feeling unusually hot, like a hot flash. Lasts about 30 minutes. As it tends to follow a larger than normal evening meal, with some alcohol, I don't think it is hormone related. If this is some kind of transient metabolic phenomenon - is it more likely to be an issue with prediabetes/insulin/glucose or with liver processes?
I am a 71 year old man with a handful of issues including Polymyalgia Rheumatica (taking steroids). Partly because of the steroids, my A1c is running borderline at 41.
Thanks

I can have large meals or alcohol, it sounds to me like your having a hypo in your sleep for some reason then your liver releases the glucose to counteract it. Leave alcohol alone and eat smaller meal or just accept your body don’t agree with what your doing and is telling you something but it’s your choice if you know what the triggers are but still do them.
Could be you're having a hypo, test to see what your mmol is and if it is low, treat it (I drink fruit juice - the small carton with a straw is usually enough for me).
Thanks for replies. I am also inclined to think that this nocturnal event is a hypo, or something metabolic, but it comes with no other symptoms. I am certainly not hungry. I shall have to try different things (diet) to see if I can pinpoint the exact cause
