Husband returning to treatment
After 10 months of well-managed anemia (PRCA), using cyclosporine, my husband's WBC is rising, and he's likely to need CLL treatment again (he had 2 rounds of FCR 2 years ago). We're looking for CLL treatment options that will be less likely to trigger the anemia/blood transfusions.

ITP following chickenpox
They initially tried
platelet
and blood
transfusions
but this didn't make any difference. They were constantly giving her immunoglobulin which made her very sick and eventually failed her kidneys. At this point they moved her to ITU and thankfully her kidneys are working again.

Explainer: how viruses can fool the immune system
Here's an informative article on the life cycle of B-cells (B-Lymphocytes), explaining how they become sensitised to a viral infection, work to clear it from your body, then go through a quality control process that makes them more specific to that virus and how that can work against us with viruses

Has anyone got any experiences of stopping norethisterone? I was on it for 9 months after my mirena fell out and I needed a transfusion. Lidocaine Infusion :)
Hi folks. Just a quick update. I had my first lidocaine infusion today. I suffer facial pain and nerve pain in my trigeminal nerve following an accident last year. I have reactions to anti convulsant medication which normally helps this condition. After the worst week yet, my pain clinic moved my infusion

Unsympathetic Medical Profession
21 years ago I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis; within 12 months of being diagnosed I had my bowel removed. I was then treated for anemia on numerous occasions with blood transfusions before being diagnosed with pernicious anemia. At the time I had a fantastic doctor that gave me B12 injections

Hepatitis C rates in Oregon soar above national average
When it comes to viral infections in Oregon, hepatitis C is far deadlier than AIDS. A report out this week shows that infections from hepatitis C remained fairly stable in Oregon between 2009 and 2013 but deaths from the virus climbed steadily over that period. They're now six times higher than deaths

VA using Choice Program to pay for Hepatitis C drugs
Now that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is shifting some of its hepatitis C patients to private providers to cut costs, some of the 135 Central Oregon veterans diagnosed with the disease will be sent to a private provider for care. What’s unclear is how many. VA officials recently announced

Exjade rash
After just receiving blood transfusion therapy for my MF for a year my Haemo thought it was time for some iron chelation. Exjade was the preferred route. I thought, "well I've waited a year for some sort of drug therapy, let's go for it!" Eleven days in and I explode in an itchy rash, fever and am

Suppressed bone marrow after FCR
Hello, I would appreciate Community opinions on the following case. Diagnosed with CLL in May 2010, I had 6 cycles of FCR between September 2012 and February 2013. Since then my Hgb has required supplementing with blood transfusions every 3 weeks (so I have had 40+ transfusions of 2 or 3 units). Iron

Blood Transfusion Therapy?
I'm day 3 on the medication hydroxycarbamide, and after a very rocky start feeling pretty grim nauseous, dizzy, etc. on day one and a bit iffy on day two, day three I seem to be doing okay, about 90 per cent of my old self. I'm not complaining - read on and you will see I got some secondary good news

Hi, I live in the US (Texas) and was diagnosed with APS/Hughes in 2011 after a series of surgeries, bleeding and blood transfusions. Apparently I had a DVT in my groin. It was very small (microclot?) and I wasn't given anything other than baby aspirin daily which I have been on consistently since.

FLAIR Trial - ErnieUK Final Round 6 FCR Surprises
I write this Post four weeks now after completing my final Round 6 of the FCR treatment. That’s from taking the last chemotherapy pill. As always please correct me on any errors/omissions and share your own experiences. Round 6 has thrown me a couple of surprises I wasn’t expecting. Please excuse

How Long To Wait For Trials and Treatments ?
A question I’ve wanted to ask you all for a long time: How long should we wait for trials and new treatments, and how to decide that the time is right to sign up, or not to wait any longer for what isn’t quite yet available? As I’m at the end of round 6 FCR (more of that later) the penny drops that
