Husband returning to treatment

After 10 months of well-managed anemia (PRCA), using cyclosporine, my husband's WBC is rising, and he's likely to need CLL treatment again (he had 2 rounds of FCR 2 years ago). We're looking for CLL treatment options that will be less likely to trigger the anemia/blood transfusions.

Good to hear that Lars has had 10 months of well managed anaemia after a pretty rough period for you both a year ago. Has Lars had any treatment recommendations? Thankfully that cyclosporine has bought him time for more CLL drug approvals in the USA and there may also be some trials that Lars may qualify for.

We're going to a PRCA specialist on Friday, and hope his recommendation matches what the CLL specialist tells us next week. I would look at ibrutinib, but there can be cytopenias... perhaps a rituxan monotherapy or Gazyva and chlorambucil...

Are you in the U.S.? If so, if Gazyva looks like a possibility ask, also, about losing the chlorambucil to reduce toxicity. My doctor did, as did a friend's. Both doctors have been involved with the treatment since its early trial days.
