From Childhood Kidney Disease Diagnosis to Kidney Doctor
Dr. Ken Sutha's kidney disease journey began at the age of ten. His experiences navigating kidney disease, undergoing multiple kidney transplants, and dedicating time to volunteer with children facing similar challenges shaped his career path as a pediatric nephrologist and fueled his advocacy efforts

On 60 mgs, potassium low, magnesium low, cramps, dizzy, fatigue ,the runs etc...
Due to reduce to 40mgs tomorrow but really feeling very strange, balance off, BP low for me, I'm on 2 x meds for BP which are contraindicated with steroids as should increase BP?? The symptoms are consistent with low potassium levels (call from hospital to tell me that) but worsening. Eating everything

Nitrofurantoin - good or bad?
Not sure that this is posted in the best place, but I don't seem to be able to access any other links atm. I have been prescribed this antibiotic for traces of blood in urine just over 2 days ago. 50mg to be taken at night. Only on the third dose so it's early days, but had quick urine test done

seeking a kidney donor
My name is Deepti and I am 35 years old . In April 2024, I was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease and now rely on peritoneal dialysis (PD) 7 days a week. Dialysis is exhausting and restricts my daily activities . I hold a Masters degree from Purdue and work as a Data engineer in Silicon Valley

Kidney function and hypothyroidism?
My hypothyroidism was finally acknowledged six weeks ago. I've been on 50mcg daily. I've just had the first blood test since starting treatment. My fT4 has 'risen' from 8.8% to 9.3%. My TSH has dropped below 1 (0.7) for the first time according to blood tests going back to 2007. I'm a bit disappointed

Continued Journey
I still have some hurdles to overcome but great news. On Monday of this week I had labs drawn, clinic (see the PA or Dr) to discuss. Then I also had a Bone Marrow draw ( biopsy). Wednesday more labs, clinic. Most numbers have been entering normal range except platelets and Red bloods cells ( normally

UTI experiences, what are they? Appetite lost?
My spouse received his kidney transplant 5.5 years ago and this week has his first UTI infection and is on "Cipro" antibiotic 5 days with a refill if needed. About 2 days prior he lost his appetite and foods tasted "off". He is diabetic on insulin before every meal and at night before bed too. Curious

More Questions about Post Transplant Life
I again appreciate all the replies to my post. Some of you took the time to write detailed responses. I have a question concerning taking trips, especially by plane. I probably would only take a plane to visit my nephews, who live 600 miles away. The plane is with a regional airline and is narrow

Zanu treatment
Hey y’all, Almost 3 weeks of Zanu. Bloodwork is “as expected “ for first line treatment, WBC 220 and Hemo 9. Feeling pretty good, most lymph node pain gone, more energy! Still have manageable side effects, diarrhea, nausea. Feeling really good about this treatment! Have a great day🤗

No Success with Renadyl for me....
Hello: Just wanted to post my experience with taking Renadyl. First, my Nephrologist never recommended it and I wondered why? Of course, if this did work for me, he couldn't recommend dialysis or a transplant and make money from it. A Renal Dietitian did recommend it. I tried Renadyl for six months but

The dilemma of hypoalbuminemia
Hello everyone, I have a history of MPN for many years, I have noticed that my liver protein, total protein, albumin, and prealbumin levels are all frighteningly low in routine medical examinations. I even suspect that my C-reactive protein levels are low even when I am in an inflammatory state. Low

biopsy
Is there any advantage to a prostate biopsy after initial radiation and 3/4 year of ADT…..? Salvage high dose brachytherapy is being considered and a third prostate biopsy has just been done. What might they be looking for…..placement,grade,Gleason?

Shocking story about women dying of CRF/ME
Did anyone read about the women who died from CFS/ME? https://news.sky.com/story/woman-with-me-died-after-begging-gp-for-help-inquest-told-13183530 Why didn't anyone try B12 and see if it could help her? If you look online there is masses of information about how B12 can help CFS/ME. For example

Renal Diet Confusion
Hello, apologies if this may be repetitive in the Group but I'm now about 3 months into my renal limited vasculitis diagnosis and one of the areas I find mind boggling is that of proper dieting. There is no shortage of information out there but a lot of it seems to
conflict.
Would be grateful
