Hello. I was recently diagnosed with CKD stage 3, without a history of high blood pressure or diabetes. Any recommendations on amazing nephrologists in the San Francisco Bay Area or Sonoma County area greatly appreciated. Took the kidney class, and connecting with a nutritionist specializing in kidney disease. Any recommendations and/or words of wisdom welcome.

Go to webmd.com When page shows up go to FIND A DOCTOR. You can put in the city and will see nephrologist in your area. You can even see reviews. When I moved after my transplant, that is what I did and found a great nephrologist and primary care doctor

I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease in my 40s. I am now 83 and am not yet on dialysis. Just recently got a fistula installed. Its important to get a good nephrologist with whom you can work and to follow a renal diet as much as you can. I also am in California and my nephrologist Dr Kang is great but she is a Kaiser doctor. You can do this. Just take it a day at a time.

Have you been checked for a PKD polycystic kidney disease? A lot of people don't realize they have it until it begins to manifest itself usually in most cases increase blood pressure.

I will look into that, as well. Thank you very much.

Check your insurance company's website and look up the nephrologists on your plan. You can sort by city, state, etc. And they come with reviews. Or you can simply call your insurance company directly. That way you have coverage - seeing the nephrologist won't be expensive.
