Dystonia Tardive
I am new here. I am contemplating DBS for tardive dystonia and wonder if there is anybody who has experienced this procedure for this condition- just to discuss pros and cons.

Worsening breathing problems due to B12 deficiency?
Hi guys, I've been having a number of symptoms for the past 4-6 months which have increasingly become worse. Most notably, I've had gastritis-like symptoms, including bloating, wind, stomach discomfort and reflux, which often comes with a sort of 'lump in the throat'/tightness in my throat that comes

I suppose you could say I have finally listened to my left achilles, which was shouting SO loud I had to abort a run for the first time last week and hobble home. Lots of ice-ing, elevating, deep heat, painful massage and rest (grrrr!) and trying not to panic about a 10k in three weeks and a HM in 7(

Post-graduation Knee injury!
So after exactly 3 weeks of post grad consolidation of 3x5k runs i thought I'd push a little bit further and go for 6k. I'd been hydrating well. eating and sleeping properly and being in hols was well rested. This also meant being away from the safety of my treadmill, but being a big boy graduate I

Deep Brain Stimulation Settings
My husband had DBS surgery in 2005 when it was still relatively new. Instantly it affected his walking though it was excellent for his tremor. We went back to the hospital but was told it was just one of those unfortunate things. The years passed and we changed hospitals to one nearer home for his check

Too much gluten while pregnant linked to increased diabetes risk for baby
Strictly speaking, off-topic, as it is focussed on diabetes. However, as most will be aware, discussion of gluten is common and likely relevant to thyroid issues. I have posted the Guardian article link first as it is the most accessible. Then a link to the BMJ editorial and, finally, to the actual

Thyroid test results
I’ve just received my results from Medichecks and here they are. I am not on Levothyroxine , and haven’t been for two years. I follow a Gluten free diet which seems to have helped stabilise/lower my antibodies. I’m happy to go back on Levo if it’ll help lower my TSH and hopefully help with energy

Need to get a grip
So I’m 5 days in to my cycle, period pretty much done. This morning was fine but this afternoon I have become awash with tiredness which is completely uncontrollable. Had a sleep on couch and woke up literally like all the sadness in the word has wrapped around my heart. I have no energy, still feel

On the fence over DBS
I'm new to posting. Have had PD diagnosed in 2012 after I cared for my husband and son with Huntington's over a period of 26 years, so I know how long and complicated neurological conditions can be. I have done pre-op for the Deep Brain Surgery and qualified for it, but my issues are not typical. I have

I have written before, but basically I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 17 years ago and think I probably had it 20 years before that! A long fight. I was monitored for years but it was deemed that I did not need medication. I managed my symptoms with gluten free diet, exercise and supplements, and it

SX 1 of 2 Complete!
Well, I’m 3 days post-op from my DBS sx (shorthand for surgery), and everything went well. The neurosurgeon, and the psychiatrist (the one who came up w the study) were both really optimistic and encouraged that this will be a helpful tx (treatment) for me. The whole team in the OR were really kind to

Lactose free diet
Hi. I wrote about going away on holiday over a week ago..I'm back and had a great time. Once again the food was a problem - but this time, I managed my gluten free diet well surprisingly.😁 But, my lactose free diet was difficult. So much in the restaurant at the hotel wasn't lactose free. Same when

Switching from Metavive II to T4/T3?
Hi all. Thank you to this group for all the help and advice that you give us. This morning I had an endocrinologist appointment and it went so well. Essentially the endocrinologist I saw agreed that I have issues converting T4 to T3 and levothyroxine alone was keeping my THS and FT4 levels at optimum

But my husband found info somewhere on the internet which suggested testing a gluten free diet if you were suspected of having FM. I had such pain I could not dress, pull the duvet over me etc. After two weeks of no

Subclinical hypothyroidism treatment in pregnancy- bad reaction to levothyroxine
I would be very grateful for any advice anyone can provide. I have been advised by specialists in fertility & miscarriage that I should be treated with levothyroxine to obtain a healthy pregnancy. It’s a long convoluted story but this is based on 2 miscarriages, a complicated pregnancy, tsh levels
