I was scheduled to have DBS surgery on the 22nd, but it has been postponed because I have an accelerated heart rate, which I believe is
a side effect of taking Azilect. I started reading more about Azilect and found that many doctors recommend you stop usage for 14 days before any procedure using any anesthetic as the reactions can be deadly and you should never be given Demerol for pain. I am scheduled to see a cardiologist on Monday

Daughters iron level 5 and only rose to 9 with supplements
Hi My daughter was treated by Dr. S last year. She always knew she had low iron and her G.P. gave her supplements. When she Saw Dr. S he doubled the supplement. She has just found out her iron level was 5 before supplementing and still only rose to 9 after taking the iron. She does not know her ferritin

Does anyone have experience of any problems with DBS and the use of induction cookers?
I'm due to be assessed for DBS at Frenchay (Bristol UK) hospital next year - having been told I am a suitable case and have just discovered that the pacemaker-type implant may be problematic with the induction cooker we use. Has anyone got any experience with these devices?

Chest wall inflamed - Ouch!
After being a moody cow all weekend I went to the doctors today. It seems chest wall is inflamed. He checked my heart and lungs out but all good, thank god. He told me it will be ok soon but is deep heat needed? Wasn't given any pills to help me out. Advice would be good

GP appointment today - this is what's come out of it...
Well, this is what has come out of my GP appointment, most of which I already knew. TSH has gone up and down like a yo-yo over the past 7 months. First it was 22 in May, 4 in August after starting the Levo, 4.3 in November and 4.6 in December. (Normal range 0.27-4.2) FT4 is back within range from being

An advent of ideas 12: forbidden foods?
Anyone reading my posts here will know that I have concerns about the fearfulness around food which exists for some people, for some even a morally tinged good/bad issue and the way in which food avoidance is almost a hobby (just as dieting can be) I was interested recently to read Beyond Temptation,

Have you tried everything and still feel unwell?
There have been lots of posts and questions on here lately from people wondering what to do next. Is there anything left that you can try to make you feel better? Maybe your blood tests don’t accurately reflect how you feel. You may think you’ve tried everything – you’ve tried all the thyroid replacement

CLEAR POINT OR MRI INTERVENTION DBS SURGERY VOTED "No" BY UCLA BOARD OF REGENTS
I got the devastating news on Weds. that after waiting over a year for the surgery which was again promised in 30 to 60 days in August we were told they have decided not to do this surgery at UCLA . I have gotten progressively worse & had my hopes on this surgery! Now it appears we have to look at

What the heck do all these test results mean? (and sorry its a long post!)
So I finally have a copy of all my blood test results since thyroid problems were found, endo diagnosed Hashimotos in March 2011 and I have all results from Jan of that year however I have NO clue which are useful to post for people to advise me on? One of the reasons i asked for them all at the doctor

AM PUTTING MY HEAD ABOVE THE PARAPET TO BE SHOT DOWN......
Having observed many posts on this forum I am aware that I have not seen many references to diet and the food we eat. Hippocrates said - Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. From my studies all illness stems from the gut. Whenever I ask about gut health on this forum - no answer is

What are the attributes of an effective treatment for PD?
Is a regimen of daily ingestion of Coconut Oil an effective treatment for Parkinson’s disease? If effective means effective cure, then the answer is NO. Is there something better? Again the answer is NO! https://www.michaeljfox.org/glossary.php#nuerons “No currently available treatment for Parkinson's

Hospitalisation and other things
I will do my best to remember that I have this account and try and post on here from time to time.It has been such a long time since I posted on here (just over a year, maybe a little more). This is somewhere I need to remember to post really, as it's a good source for people to find information on
