Is this flare pattern normal?
I know everyone's disease is different, but I'm wondering if anyone has the same kind of flares as me. I have episodes, usually about a week long, of terrible, disabling exhaustion with incredibly heavy limbs. This means I walk at the speed of a 90 year old and struggle to stay upright eg when I sit

Just had a funny half hour
I saw my Dr today. She has agreed that Amitriptyline is not for me, so I am onto a different drug: Mirtazapine. I will find out tonight if they work. On another note, I just had a funny half hour. The vision in my left eye became so blurry that I couldn't see straight. I am going to see (there is no

Antidepressants and stomach ulcers, please help!!
Hi all, I'm in a slightly tricky spot re medication. I was prescribed venlafaxine a few days ago, which is a medication I took a few years ago with no issues, however this time I immediately felt it set off my supposedly dormant stomach ulcer. Like, within half an hour of taking it I was in bloody agony

New drug and other news...
I have taken Amitriptyline for 3 nights, 10 mg a night. I am sleeping a bit better but still have difficulty getting off to the land of nod and staying there. So tonight I will be increasing to 2 tablets. This is only a short term measure. I cannot afford to be on them when I return to work. Bus driving

Is this pain from my endo or nope?
Hello :) I find it so difficult to relate to people who describe their endo pains. So I'm hoping someone will read this and be like 'chill G, that's normal.' Unless it isn't.. In which case maybe endo isn't the cause of this pain? IT IS SO CONFUSING! FYI I was diagnosed by lap in Nov this year. My daily

The pain ladder and medication. Cocodamol does zilch.
So I'm on 30/500 2 pills a day 4x a day. I have EDS, instability of lower limbs, a joint deformity in my hip and a labral tear in the same hip along with chronic spine pain in the entire length of my spine and gastroparesis so I hurt all the time. *fun* Been on cocodamol for maybe 2 years now, before

I think I am going mad ....
Hi everyone. I haven't posted on here for a while but like to drop in and read the posts. This week has been the 5th anniversary of my diagnosis with Fibro. I was asked if it was something to celebrate and my first thought was 'Hell no!!'. Then somebody pointed out to me that I may be one of the 'lucky

Boom and bust
Hi all, I'm fairly new to this site but would like any advice or thoughts on fatigue and managing 'boom and bust'. I had a road traffic accident over 5 months ago and have had post concussion syndrome since. I had 3 relapses in the first 2 months which all have the same pattern of chronic headaches

Amitriptyline withdrawal symptoms
Hi all, I decided to try not taking amitriptyline for a few days to see what happens. I'm only on 10mg a night to help me sleep and reduce fibro pain. I was sceptical when I read about withdrawal symptoms with such a low dose. But having taken it last at 9 in the evening on Monday, I had violent shivers

Unable to cry!
I am taking 25 Amitriptyline for PHN, I know the drug has side effects - e.g. dry eyes - but I recently have realised that I am unable to cry, upsetting as I have a lot of stress in my life at present and feel a "good cry" would help. Anyone else on AMI. experience this? and if so what might help

New medication and work questions
Hello everyone Yesterday I have received new antidepressants called Amitriptyline. I had to stop Duloxetine after nearly a year due to bad side effects. Does anyone have any experience with Amitriptyline? Also due to feeling really sick today I had to take one day off at work and I am not a ball of stress

Amitriptyline - burning in mouth and throat
I am taking 25mg of Amitriptyline for PHN (shingles) and to help me sleep. Works well but no matter how carefully I swallow tablet I have a painful burning sensation in mouth and throat which can last for over half an hour . Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can minimise or even stop this happening
