Experiences with Biotin for Methotrexate hair loss
Has anyone tried taking Biotin to help reduce hair loss caused by Methotrexate? I began taking Methotrexate last November, after having to stop taking Hydroxocholoroquine due to significant hair loss and rashes. Initially my hair loss with Methotrexate at 10 mg and Folic acid at 5 mg 6 time a week

Coeliac related auto-immune hepatitis
Just been diagnosed with this - last year had sudden severe jaundice ALT > 1200 etc. CT and liver biopsy revealed inflamed liver and pancreas, the liver biopsy showing slight focal necrosis. The blood tests showed the presence of Coeliac related antibodies (TTG/EMA), subsequent biopsy of the duodenum

Jay 20 Experiences the Autumn Fall!
Hi everyone. I previously wrote to say how great I thought the Viviscal pills were. Well for a time they really seemed to be helping. I am just writing in to say alas my lovely thick hair is yet again starting to fall out and in quite big chunks. My scalp recently became very dry and itchy which has

Normal X-ray and blood tests but still short of breath
Hello, I have been experiencing chest tightness and shortness of breath for two months now. I have had a chest X-ray and blood tests and both came back clear. I am scheduled for a CT scan next week. On vacation a couple of weeks ago, my feeling of chest tightness and breathlessness was so bad that I

Insomnia and worry through IVF/pregnancy after miscarriage earlier in the year
Hello Iāve always been a terrible sleeper. I am really pleased that I am pregnant after my first round of ivf (very early days).l BUT... I miscarried at 21 weeks earlier in the year and although I am feeling so blessed and lucky and happy to be pregnant, I am also terrified and sleeping worse than ever

Selenium
A while ago I saw an endocrinologist and she recommended I take Selenium which I did. She gave me 200Ī¼g daily which I have started and stopped twice now. The first time, I got awful memory fog (almost unable to function), hair falling out, tiredness. The second time, i had to stop after two weeks.

Just saying Hello and giving an update
Hi guys, how are you all? I hope not too bad. I have been extremely tired and my fingers and toes have got much worse lately, so I'm actually struggling typing right now.. I would like to try to minimize my typing but it's actually really difficult because of computer and phone use daily! :o How do you

Hi everyone...I posted a while ago about me being put on a new medication called mycophenolate..it's not new to AIH/PBC, but it is new to me. I have been on this for around two and a half months now. In the beginning lots of side effects which seem to have settled down. I was mid flare the last time

Migraine with Aura
When I first started suffering from migraines in 97 I often had migraines with aura and spent many a lesson in the first aid room waiting for the aura to pass. Once I hit puberty the aura part of the migraine tailed off and apart from one odd attack I have not suffered with migraine aura for 15 years

Petition to teach epilepsy in PSHE lessons in schools
As of 2020 First Aid will be taught in schools, thatās in PSHE lessons. They will learn about seizures and the recovery position as part of First Aid, BUT they wonāt be taught anything specifically about epilepsy! Itās time we taught school children what epilepsy actually is, what causes it, who can

How Does Smoking Affect Sleep??
I'm passing this on from one of our members, BlueEyedGal Each year, nearly 6 million people die worldwide from tobacco use and related diseases. Smoking has a long list of health risks, including cancer, depression, anxiety, heart disease, and much, much more. But smoking also interferes with your sleep

I was prescribed this on Wednesday by dermatologist to treat hair loss. What treatments have worked for you?
I have lost well over 50% of my hair now ā¹ļø Unfortunately I had to wash my hair before Wednesdayās appointment as my scalp becomes so dry . I have noticed if I let the dry scalp build up and then wash my hair my scalp becomes quite sore after as if Iāve disturbed a wound or sore . To be honest I just

Lorazepam isn't working
So my Dr. switched me from Alprazolam to Lorazepam, but it's not working at all. And now I'm terrified. My symptoms have gotten worse and they are symptoms that I've never had with anxiety before. My skin feels sunburned, last night it felt like the floor was swaying beneath my feet. Also last night

A BIT OF A WARNING ON USING MEDICAL MARIJUANA (MM) AS A SLEEP AID AND THE USE OF MELATONIN 123 AS ANOTHER OPTION FOR SLEEP PLUS TWO OTHERS
In a previous reply to a thread about using MM as a sleep aid, I mentioned that although I did not think it was addictive, I felt that it could easily become a regular part of your going to sleep routine and in that sense, possibly habit forming, so I suggested mixing it up with the "melatonin 123" method

Nanogen - product range for thinning hair
Like many, I've been losing hair after years of methotrexate and it's started to become an issue, because instead of being bouncy with a bit of kick, what's there just looks flat. My hairdresser suggested I switch to volumising hair products which I did, but not much improvement. The other day I noticed

Progress and a bit of fun
I wrote a silly ditty for someone on her quite a while back. Am posting it here now so I can delete from my iPad as iCloud alarmingly getting full and I don't want to pay 70pence - I know - I am that old miser. I am currently on 6 and 5.5 alternate. Slight delay to latest reduction as I fell hard on
