Acalabrutinib
Hi everyone, I'm new here. I started on Acalabrutinib in February 2022 after being in remission for 12 years. Unfortunately I started getting awful headaches, sickness, palpatations, confusion, itching, pain and blood pressure shot up. Eventually was taken off all the other drugs I was taking (Allopurinol

Iron /Ferritin Level and Menopause
Hello Everyone...Quick question. Is it necessary to test your iron and ferritin if you no longer have a menstrual cycle? The GP who is filling in for the regular GP stated that since I no longer have a period, that I could not be anemic due to low iron/ferritin. This does not make sense to me , so

Fed up with pain
I haven’t been officially diagnosed with IBS and have been fine for months and in the last month have had a flare up. (I can only put this down with doing an aspect of my old job with my old boss as a temporary fix in the business, loved the job didn’t like the boss). Left side pain which constantly

To continue or not....that is the question
I started treatment in July 2021 after 18 months on W&W. Initially I was treated with Obinutuzumab but I had a severe reaction to the first 20mg and ended up in the A&E resuscitation ward. I was then swopped to Rituximab and Venetoclax, which was explained as normally being a second line treatment which

High ferritin levels
Good evening one and all - and in advance I want to wish you all a happy new year, one that is healthier for us all. My serum ferritin level has gone up even further and I just wondered if the PMR/Pred etc has anything to do with it? I should add that I do have an abnormal inherited gene (a carrier

Low iron first time in years despite supps
Hello, I just had an iron panel done as it turned out my iron is 4% of range.... 55 (50-170)! Ferritin better at 30% range, but still not great. I used to take Floradix and my iron was over midrange on it, then took 60 mg Actiferol (ferric pyrophosphate) in powder from the pharmacy for couple of months

Are my expectations too high?
I was diagnosed 15 months ago. I was started on prednisolone then added methotrexate then sulfasalazine then abatacept. I am now taking all four plus co codamol and naproxen occasionally. I would have expected to be able to function but my hands are still very stiff and painful and am very fatigued.

Online doctor's service ordered to pay £13k for providing unregistered services
We often see members asking about pharmacies which offer some form of consultation before prescribing and supplying prescription-only or pharmacy medicines. This story is about one with a very questionable way of working:

Alternative to naproxen
Alternative to naproxen Hi I’ve been taking naproxen for some years now for RA, but I also have CKD ( chronic kidney disease). After going for my six monthly checkup with the RA specialist, she has suggested I stop naproxen and switch to co-codamol, which I reluctant to do. Has any one been in the

8 days post ablation
What a week?! I had an RF ablation at the start of last week but felt, what I thought, was excessive pain in my chest (particularly when lying on my back) 2/3 days after but just stuck with it thinking it was a standard recovery symptom for RF as I’d only had cryo done before. However on Thursday night

Holistic treatments
Morning all, So am waiting a lap to confirm suspicion of endo. Stopped Pill 3 years ago to try for a baby. 2 years ago got diagnosed with a 6cm cyst with blood but not a endometrioma. Interestingly the male SHO told me it was small and shouldn't have been in so much pain - only found out it was 6cm

Iron Supplements for those very sensitive to gluten
Hi, I'm being prescribed iron supplement (ferrous sulphate). GP assures me it is gluten free but GPs and Pharmacists don't understand gluten in ingredients. The pharmacy is not answering their phone when I call to find out the brands they have so I can do my own check. Any pharmacy prescribed brands

Hello lovely folk, I am interested in your thoughts, wisdom and experience. I have been reducing my Pred, super slowly, for over 2 years. I have been reducing by .5mg, usually every 6-8 weeks. I am used to the first 2 weeks on the full lower dose being uncomfortable, then the next 3-6 weeks being

Going away this weekend and in pain. What shall I do?
Started PMR journey on 15mg pred last May 2021. 15mg was great. Down to 7mg but last few weeks am struggling. I had a bad cough/cold most of January and put my aches and pains down to that. I have a (strange - not pulled muscle) lower back and pelvic girdle type pain. It feels a bit like stiffness and

Non drowsy pain medication?
Hi all, I have endo between uterus and bowel, my left ovary is stuck to my pelvis and bowel and I have adeno as well. I've only tried ibuprofen, paracetemol, naproxen, codeine and co-codamol (over the counter strength) for pain relief and co-codamol works best to take the edge off. Unfortunately it

Myosure procedure
Hello, I’m awake and in excruciating pain following a myosure procedure three days ago. They removed a polyp and some tissue and I had 6 injections inside me. Does anyone have any advice as ibuprofen and co codamol are not touching the pain and I don’t know what to do? Anyone else in excruciating pain

I'd been feeling weary so had bloods done at doctor's. My iron was low so GP prescribed iron tablets.
I'd been feeling weary so had bloods done at doctor's. My iron was low; it has been for years; (I think it's always been low, even when I ate meat. I was told by a doctor 30 years ago that I was slightly anaemic; I think at the time I was hypo but it wasn't diagnosed) so GP has prescribed iron tablets
