Hi I’ve got endometriosis specifically adhesions around bowel and pelvic area

I had an MRI scan on NHS beginning of April but still waiting for a consultation appointment to come through to discuss results and treatment options

For the last few months though I’m finding there are more and more day to day tasks I’m unable to do without getting sharp pelvic pain which is really depressing

For example things like cleaning the kitchen, picking up the hoover and doing some hoovering, running in the garden with my daughter, playing with balls in the garden with my daughter

All these things I’m unable to do now without sharp pelvic pain

Does this sound normal to any of you?? Or should I be worried it’s something more serious??

Often the more moving around I do by late afternoon I experience more pelvic pain too

My GP has just said to take paracetamol co codamol or tramadol for the pain

Please I need advice is this normal for endo people?!

Hi cathhomer🙂I am sorry 4 your pain.I am not diagnosed yet but was told probability of endometriosis in my case but without any proper evidence from scans.I have pain in pelvis, lower part of the tummy and vagina.Every single day.Cant do daily chores like cleaning like yourself without pain, bending down or sitting, sleeping etc on that side is painful.I am sorry i cant be more help to u.Take care, hpe u will find reason of your pain soon and me too x

Hi 👋 Sad to say yes it is a normal situation. There are ways to support yourself , the website for Endo UK has useful guides for keeping a symptom diary that will help when you go to the consultant. It’s hard always to keep it accurately in your head as the days roll past and it’s straightforward for the medics to digest. Have courage.

Hi cathhomer, it is unfortunately very common. I am myself by now technically disabled and relying on a carer with some of my day to day tasks. You can try a low FODmap diet and see if eliminating certain foods will improve your pain. I ‘be been on Naproxen and amitriptyline for years and only amitriptyline gave me some relief. However I’ve developed and internal bleeding from taking these painkillers daily so now the only thing that gives me relief and a couple of hours of sleep is edibles. Some of them are legal in the UK. Endometriosis UK is fighting for years to add endometriosis to the list of disabilities in this country you can sign their petitions on their website. I wish I could give you a good advice but I am myself after 20 years of struggling, several surgeries also part of my bowel removed have to tell you that there’s still no proper treatment for our chronic illness. I hope you’ll have a good specialist who is listening to you and help you❤️

Hey sorry you’re struggling. I’m in the same boat . My Gp prescribed me mefenamic acid tablets which is an anti inflammatory I take this daily more for prevention to stop the pains from kicking in. It really helps but get something to protect your stomach from gp alongside it as they are quite strong. Also a tens machine works wonders. Xx

Thanks for the replies tried menefamic acid but it interferes with my asthma and chest so had to stop it

I am also doing a symptom diary but last consultation I had they didn’t even look at it! Shows how interested they are!! So depressing

In addition to painkillers & tens & hot water bottles, I recently found a private specialist pelvic physiotherapist. I’ve had pelvic stretches to do and a course of electro-Accupuncture for post-tibial nerve stimulation, and now following this up with daily tens at home. Overall Ive had a reduction of pelvic pain with this.

I’ve been diagnosed and have been told this is totally normal. I only experienced this after my surgery though which is strange. I find my pains get worse throughout the day too and can be exaggerated when I move around. I didn’t receive any help with it though other than being prescribed naproxen which partially helps after a while x
