Your Dr should prescribe you with iron tablets but if not you can buy them in Holland and Barrett. I am on iron tablets and always take mine with fresh orange juice as it boosts it. x

Have you called your GP to get a follow up? If not I’d do that, sometimes ( alot of the time😞) we need to keep on top of our health care ourselves and chase things. Give them a call. 😊

Hiya Miasnana. If your GP was asked to follow up & he didn’t he needs reminding, more so as the test was from last October, 4 months ago at best. When I last had severe iron deficient anaemia my GP was straight on it, once I returned from holiday! I didn’t get her message until I'd returned but when she'd got hold of me she fast-tracked me to Gastro as my only symptom was fatigue. I thought it may have been made worse as we'd travelled by road, I. excess of 3200 miles but she was insistent.

Have you been fatigued all that time? There is self-help but I’d see what your GP says first, he may wish to medicate/refer & advise on diet himself.

No wonder you are feeling crap, I would definitely contact your GP again, get another blood test .

In the mean time get some iron tablets, I take "gentle iron" tablets as the regular iron tablets get my IBS going but for me the iron tablets has worked and my haemoglobin has gone back up to within normal range.

As others have said we have to make sure to look after ourselves, GPs must be swamped so need a prod to remind them 😁 You take care x

Yes I would contact your GP again. My haemaglobin has been 102 and ferritin 10. I was put on tablets for 3 months. I also took some Floradix tablets myself for a short while after as well. Iron tablets are best helped with Vit C so a swig of orange juice is good.

My haemoglobin and ferritin levels dropped last October too. I was given several months of iron tablets the day my blood results came back, which brought my levels up within normal range. Since completing the course they have been dropping again, but my GP is monitoring my bloods.I really do think that you need to contact your GP.

Can you eat liver if so it is good for you darling Hugs.xxxx

I've had iron tablets on and off for anaemia. They were a bit harsh on my system so I now buy Feroglobin liquid iron. Most recent blood test was fine so I'll keep going with it and try to take fresh orange at same time. x

You really should not just take OTC iron tablets before you consult your doctor. Please contact him first as low iron with symptoms like you describe really needs professional advice ….if you feel any worse do call 111 & get some professional clinical advice.
