17 weeks and baby movements
Hi! I am 17 weeks and 5 days and had been feeling the baby 'move/flutter' since I was about 11/12 weeks on and off. My pregnancy has so far been good, no complications, but 2 days ago I had kidney stones and the doctor at A&E prescribed co-codamol. I took one, then looked closer and it's not advised

Once upon a time....
This post outlines how my diagnosis came about and why I’m feeling a little more positive. I’d been ‘unwell’ for a while, backwards and forwards to the GP with various symptoms that collectively were having a real impact on my life. First, I was told it was pernicious anaemia. That was some time

Venetoclax and ibrutinib trial
Hello, I’m on month 19 of a 26 month trial taking Venetoclax & ibrutinib plus aciclovir, co-trimoxazole, lansoprazole & allopurinol to counteract side effects caused by the Venetoclax & ibrutinib. My last consultation shows no evidence of CLL anywhere. This is great news but I’m thinking why I should

Mini pill and thyroxine
I’ve just had a nightmare at the doctors, left so upset and literally not getting anywhere. Anyway.... my question is I’m on the mini pill Desogestrel but since taking it I’ve had lots of hypo symptoms which seem to be getting worse and wondered if it could be the pill causing this? The dr won’t increase

How can someone receive iv iron infusion with only 0.5 increase in hb ...pregnant woman 32 years
Iron profile after infusion shows everything within normal range except for high transferrin (I guess it increased from the infusion) haemoglobin was 8.4 now after a month of iv therapy with sucrose iron it's only 8.9

how to get an IV iron infusion
My Ferritin level is 29.7. I know that I need to get it up to 100-350 range and the best possibly only way to get my levels up that high is an IV iron infusion. Even though I've explained the situation that RLS suffers needed higher levels, and just how hard it can be to obtain those levels with oral

Pains in right thigh and hip, i.e. not bilateral, as well as usual, although not too severe, PMR symptoms.
I've been slowly tapering down to 5 mg. for the last couple of weeks (diagnosed Oct 2016). I'm not feeling too good with it but this maybe due to withdrawal symptoms. However I've had pains in my right thigh and hip for about 6 weeks now which get worse when I get up after sitting a while or when I walk

Tens Machines?!?
Hi all, I’m at the end of my tether with pain relief. Nothing seems to work very well. Currently on Naproxen and Co-codamol at night but they simply take the edge off the pain. I can’t take anything stronger cause I have to function, work and have 2 kids!! Has anyone used a tens machine for pain relief

Need help with best type of iron supplement and suggested dosage for addressing low ferritin. Are MCHC levels in blood tests important?
I have posted here once and had one reply but I still need advice about iron and would be grateful if anyone could help. I now realise my ferritin has been consistently low since 2015. (Not looked at earlier results). I understand from various posts on here that this should be in the upper part of the

Iron in all its forms.
This description of the various forms of iron came up in an answer on the Iron Disorders Institute email forum. I have got permission from the poster to share on this site. Hopefully it will clarify some of the mystery about the whole iron situations in our bodies. "Serum Iron - circulating iron, subject

Post-ablation pain
Hello ladies. I had a laparoscopy and Novasure ablation a couple of weeks ago. I'm now having the equivalent of a period - no blood, just thick yellow gunk (rather than the watery discharge I've been having since the op). The problem is the cramping: it's horrendous. I've always had painful periods,

Do most people with liver disease have anemia? If so, what kind of anemia.
I have seen so many people with liver disease with anemia as the first sign of their diagnoses and they are put on iron. I am puzzled by that because most people suffering from ALD has high iron levels. and many other liver diseases tend to have high iron levels.
