anti NMDA encephalitis
Hi! My husband had HSV1 encephalitis in March-April 2023, then anti NMDA encephalitis May-August 2023. He had the steroids, the plasma exchange but it was the Rituximab that finally got it sorted. I’m just looking to connect with anyone that has suffered with it or their families?! We don’t have

Anoxic/hypoxic brain injury
Hi all, Posting for my partner, her mother went to hospital for cataract surgery (otherwise pretty healthy) she was getting it done under general anesthetic as she has anxiety. She had a 'difficult intubation' in which the tube caused a bleed which sent her into cardiac arrest, it took 10 mins to restart

A Shingrix thank you
Hi, I just wanted to thank so many of you who have spoken of your side effects with the second Shingrix, yet being worth it. It was when I recently read here that being only half vaccinated was still being open to Shingles that spurred me into getting the second one today, after 2 1/2 years. After

concerned my daughters heart is stoping during the night
Daughter has had 4 focal to bilateral tonic clinic seizures since September 2023, these have occurred when either sleep deprived, during sleep or shortly after awakening. She had an EEG which was normal. Met with specialist on 29.05.24, where she was not officially diagnosed but it is 60-70% that she

Wife getting MMR vaccine booster - isolate or not?
I'm an SLL patient, 55 years old, now about 2.5 years into remission after 6 FCR treatments. I just recovered from a recent (and thankfully mild) bout of shingles. My shingles was so mild that my GP wasn't convinced it actually was shingles! She had me tested for herpes zoster antibodies, and for good

Advice please...
My fibro always gets worse in cold weather so bath soaks are my best friends at the moment, however, my boiler and heating stopped working few days ago, I called my housing association and they fixed the heaters, but for hot water I was told its not considered emergency as you can boil kettles of water

PBC and nails / gel polish / acrylic
hi everyone, just a quick question.. I wondered has anyone had any issues with having their nails done with gel polish. I had to switch from gel polish to acrylic as my nails kept having a reaction to the gel - and often developed a fungal infection. Once I switched to acrylic they were much better

Shingles.
I have always posted about my Afib and cardioablation. And all you nice people have helped me immensely. But now I'm going through another matter. Thirteen days ago I came down with shingles. The rash started on my back around my left shoulder blade and moved under my arm and onto my left breast. I can

Travel vaccinations
I’m travelling to Bali in April and been recommended to have Typhoid, Tetanus and Hepatitis A boosters. Has anyone experienced any issues following these vaccinations please? Currently on 0.5mg Pred and no intention of reducing further until after the holiday!

Dad in ICU
My dad went on holiday from England to Alicante and two days in he had a cardiac arrest. He went to ICU after being in a private hospital where they said he’s heart had stopped between 15/20 mins but no records of this have been sent to the hosp. He was on sedation for around a week. They lifted

Measles
With info about measles cases increases I wondered if anyone had experience of being vaccinated against measles since RA diagnosis. I thought I was vaccinated as a child (pre MMR vaccine) but GP doesn't have a record of it.Thanks in advance for any info

Shingles pain
I've had shingles with continuing pain. Wounds like a burn and a scratch are taking ages to heal. I am older, 66, and I know this can happen. Any suggestions for tests I could ask for and is there any point asking for them. Best wishes Fiona

Antibiotic therapy. Now I have severe insomnia
On February 25th, 2024 I must have injured my gum and I got a tooth/gum infection which was treated first unsuccessfully with amoxicillin, then successfully with cephalexin for 7 days (Mar 3rd - Mar 10th, 2024). The night that I finished the cephalexin I had difficulty sleeping (5 hr 51min). Each night

Measles outbreak
Hi, not sure if I'm being silly so looking for abit of reassurance. I'm on rituximab, azathioprine and prednisolone. I'm up-to-date with vaccinations bit concerned about the measles outbreak in my area. Am I at risk due to being immunocompromised?
