Not all pain down to hypothyroidism!
At the beginning of September I went to the GP about a painful shoulder which I'd had for a while and assumed was part of the usual musculo-skeletal pain which we hypos endure. After a cursory look, she told me there was no need to be referred to a consultant (as I had been nearly three years ago for

Hi, I have sero-negative rheumatoid arthritis and currently taking sulfosalazine. Following my last Rheumy appointment I had a steroid injection and am due to go on methotrexate in a couple of weeks. I'm just a bit concerned about the prospect of that, can any of you offer any advice?? Thanks in advance

Grateful for any advice
Dear all, I am in a panic this evening as I think I might have dealt with this in the wrong way. I know that lots of you are really suffering with our bodies getting sick and when I read some of the posts on this site I think that I've had it very easy, but don't know how to deal with it now. I would

Horse riding with RA - steroid injections for knees?
I've only recently been diagnosed with RA, after a couple of years with a fibro diagnosis. My joints are now my most troublesome and painful problem. But recently I rediscovered a love of horses (after 20 years!) And had thought I could learn to train and work with horses from the ground. But I've been

Emotional Wreck!
Does anyone else lose all control of their emotion's when your starting a flare or in a flare? I cry unable to control myself, to the point where I'm sobbing. I feel like a demented mad woman & have no idea why it gets this bad. 2 wks ago I had a steroid injection & the difference is unbelievable. It's

Steroid injection at t 11/t 12.
Has anyone had a steroid injection into t 11/ t12? Can it be done under anesthesia? I have burning on soles of feet and the neuro surgeon thinks a herniated disc at t 11/t12 might be the problem? Thanks.

What to expect from steroid injection
I have recently been diagnosed with some form of arthritis, they think it might be Psoriatic because my Father suffered with Psoriasis but I have no skin problems or RA, they are doing more tests. I have had swollen and painful wrists and hands and one ankle. They gave me a steroid injection in my bum

Excruciating Pain
I was diagnosed with Trochanteric Bursitis a while ago, I've had 2 steroid injections already this year, and even though they do dull the pain, they don't seem to last for very long. The pain has increased to a whole new level today (last night) so much so that I have not slept at all again so far.

Steroid injection around the lower back
I was dx with GCA about three years ago and have reduced Pred to 7.5 mg. Now it has been suggested by my rheumy that I have 'facet joint injections' around the lower back - this is for lower back pain.. Sounds nasty. An MRI scan showed up wear and tear in the vertebrae as well as some arthritis. Are

Got bloods sorted
Hi everyone, after reading your replays to me, I rang the rheumy advice ( what a lovely nurse she is ) she explained just what I needed to do regards my blood tests. My Drs surgery is now doing them but I have to sort them out myself ( not really a problem ) it is a good job I rang the nurse as she told

Swelling of joints
Hi All, Just curious to know if any of you suffer from excessive fluid on your joints? Knee & ankle? This is a new addition for me. I had fluid drained from my ankle over a month ago followed by steroid injection into joint, but last week my knee/leg grossly swelled up. Had an aspirate & >80mls. of

Muscle twitching
Can anyone help with muscle twitching? Along with the pain in my legs the twitching is driving me mad. I try rubbing/massage but some places hurt to touch. Doesn't matter if I'm sitting, standing or lying down. Disturbed sleep! Having steroid injections on Thursday so will help with pain (hopefully)

Chronic wrist pain after surgery.
Hi guys. So I've just found the site and thought I'd say hi. I'm Dan a 31yr old male. Let me tell you my story. Almost 12 years ago now I dislocated and broke my wrist in a sporting accident whilst in the army. I then spent the next 2 years with it hurting and after a few scans and exploratory surgery

Steroid injection
I fell and broke my hip last October and had to have a hip replacement. I suffered a lot of pain from the hip and my other joints . When I saw the rheumy in May he suggested a steroid injection which has greatly improved all my joint pain. I am 58 years old and have subsequently put on weigh especially

Steroid injection verses tablets?
I have seen my GP today as I have been in constant pain. it's been suggested that I have a steroid injection once a month as I can't cope with prednisone tablets and they said the side effects from injections are much less. Has anyone else had the injections and if so how did you get on with them. Any
