A rare kind of bird?
I'm very lucky to have been spared RA diagnosis until 70+ years after I first came to the notice of pre-NHS orthopaedics, hence my attempts to stay 'chirpy' in the face of adversity. [Wow, that's almost poetic!] Why choose 'Dodo' for a username? Well, an elderly gentleman dentist chose it for me

Injections - which one?
Hi so I've seen my Rheumi nurse and despite the steroid injection my DAS scores were high enough to qualify for biological treatment. But which one? I know the forum members cannot give medical advice (frankly I have that coming out my ears) I need some help with the medication it effects people in their

Epidural
Tomorrow am I am going for the epidural injection into my lower back. When I talked to the nurse at the pain clinic she said that because the steroid injection really only worked on the left side they would probably continue with the injections into facet joint. We will see how the epidural works.

Any chance of being cured?
Hello, I've been trying to deal with this pain for a long time now. I was wondering if there's any chance of feeling %100 beter? My pain won't go away. It's 7/24, not just when I'm sitting etc. I'm having steroid injections in May and I don't want to be disappointed. Nothing helps..

Turmeric??
I'm currently not taking any meds due to impending (hopefully at least) pregnancy. I have steroid injections but they last at best 3 weeks and I have to wait at least 6 weeks between injections. I'm pretty desperate so I've turned herbal. I'm reading Margaret Hill's book about treating it drug free

Palindromic Rheumatism or Ankylosing Spondylitis? No one seems to agree, but I do know I'm no longer coping with the pain
It's a long time since I've posted. I've needed space and time to process. I flung myself into work and have used obsessive over-working as a way of distracting me; so I wouldn't have time to think or dwell on how bad I've felt on so many occasions. This morning, I've started a video diary of my symptoms

What might come next?
Hi all, I'm wondering what might happen when I visit my rheumatologist in a few weeks. I'm into my first 3 months of 10mg mtx. My RA is still moving around my body. Back in December I had swollen, sore and stiff feet, neck, left shoulder, wrists, thumbs and fingers. My muscles in my arms are so sore

PMR in a 45 year old
Hi all, following my first post a couple of weeks ago I have some more questions I'm hoping some of you can help with. I'm on a dose of 20mg Pred per day but my progress has not been as good as my rheumatologist had hoped for. It's true that the pain I was getting in my legs and hands has mostly subsided

Rib pain??
Morning, For the last few days I've developed rib pain: radiating from the right side side on my back! My first flare -up just keeps going (since December) and evolving every day! I've just finished 2 weeks of omeprazole with 3 x 50mg of dicloflex which I was told to reduce after that. I know it contradicts

Also took me off codeine phosphate and is going to try me on Morphine Patches. Has anyone else in the Community tried them? If so are they effect

Methotrexate
Hi, like you Tracey, I've had RA for a year and have been taking Methotrexate for 10 months gradually increasing to 20mg weekly. I have only experienced a couple of side effects e.g slight hair loss in the beginning & a few mouth ulcers. (Both these conditions have now improved). My RA is reasonably

Help
I have been taking 100 Levo for about 2 years. Very rarely do I feel well. I think I noticed a marked improvement for a couple of months last summer after having 2 steroid injections for a frozen shoulder. After reading lots of posts on here and some of Isabella wentz' book I started taking supplements

Epidural
I just received a phone call from the pain clinic and because the steroid injections did not really do what they were hoping for burning the nerve ( there is a technical name for this ) will not help either. I think I am just about at the end of my rope. So my question would be has anyone else had

Steroid injection.
Hi a bit of community advice please I've been without meds for two months now so the RA is really bad. I'm seeing my rheumy nurse in the middle of April (in three weeks) but I'm really suffering. I've had one injection last Nov. How many can you have a year?. It's been 5 months so an injection now would

Methotrexate
Hi everyone just introducing myself, I was diagnosed with RA at the end of December so quite recently. I have found this site very useful and it is good knowing there are others who understand what I'm going through. I've been on Methotrexate since the first week in January and increasing by 2.5ml every
