Steroid injection at t 11/t 12.

Has anyone had a steroid injection into t 11/ t12? Can it be done under anesthesia? I have burning on soles of feet and the neuro surgeon thinks a herniated disc at t 11/t12 might be the problem? Thanks.

Hi Bunce, I'm afraid the injection can't be done under anaesthesia but there is anaesthetic in the injection itself , you will be lying face down under a live X-ray machine so they can make sure it goes in the exact spot where it is needed, you won't see anything and it will all be over in five minutes, hope this is of some help to you and hope all goes we'll for you. I remember the pre attendance paperwork I got for my previous nerve root block injections did say something about general anaesthetic for patients who were very nervous.

Hello Bunce, I had a caudal block last Friday. 8 of us had it done. I was the only one that insisted on being sedated. It was lovely. Just insist if you can't face it. Laying on my tummy is murder as my lumbar spine is fusing. Plus, I don't want all those gorgeous chaps in theatre looking at my bare bum whilst I'm awake
