Low Dose Seed Brachytherapy Side Effects
I just finished low dose seed brachytherapy six days ago. Post op I’ve had severe urinary retention issues mainly in the middle of the night, usually for just a few hours. Not bad enough to go to the ER, but a few times I wondered if I might have to. For some reason, daytime is not so bad. I was previously

Diarrhoea saga continued
I've had diarrhoea on and off for over a year. It started after breakfast and stopped around lunch time, not every day, but about 3 days a week. It's been slowly getting more frequent. A month or so ago I spoke to the GP who first diagnosed me with PMR/GCA. She tested me for coeliac and cancer, both

Good news, hopefully REM
Well, I am hoping this is good news. We seem to have ppl that are struggling, so maybe this gives them "hope". I had my sleep examination (48 hours assessment) in October, and I have the results of sorts back. I will need the expert advice of perhaps Sue or Jules, if they are not too busy. The polysomnography

First BMD in 8 years
I got a BMD and have been considering echolyte in the year ahead to inform my numbers with more information. I wonder what some of your concerns for me might be as I debate medication or no medication. I am an active 68 year old woman. I walked 920 miles in 8 weeks in a wellness competition. I am

Paper on the design of B12 deficiency treatment protocols
This might be one of the most fascinating papers I've read on B12 deficiency and treatment, with several sections exploring how symptoms relate back to the particular biochemistry processes that go wrong in deficiency. The paper was produced in 2021 for the B12 Institute, Netherlands, a specialist B12

Osteopenia and travel insurance
Hi I'm hoping someone can help me! I had a DEXA scan in 2020 and was recommended by GP to take alendronic acid due to osteopenia in my spine. I did some research and declined. Instead, improved my diet, working on exercising more, use a Marodyne Low Intensity Vibration machine and take some supplements

Back sliding and really scared
Since increasing my lithium dose before Christmas, my symptoms had been so much better, only having mild lows for a stretch of six weeks. I was still having the two to three week rapid cycling bipolar cycles, but my downs had been very mild. But this cycle it is back with a vengeance. Have felt horrible

Hello everyone 2
I finally quit taking Cymbalta. My vision was really starting to suffer. The uncontrollable muscle movements were keeping me up so many nights. For years I was taking it mainly due to the pain relief part. I talked to a Dr. I didn't taper off like planned. I feel so much better. I was on it for years

Does tranexamic acid work?
Hi guys. I've had an ablation, and it failed. I had the mirena, and I had 2 rounds of the depo injection and I'm still bleeding so so bad. 2 periods a month now on average, so I'm finally on the list for a hysterectomy. Doctor has now put me on tranexamic acid in the hope that it will help. Last month

kidney stones??
for the last week or so I have been suffering with intermittent severe sharp pains in the area of my right kidney. No warning and happens around 5 to 10 times each day. Never while I’m lying down, sometimes when I stand up or turn while sitting and sometime when I’m standing and bend. It’s very painful

Hi Until December last I was taking 40 mg iron bisglycinate with orange juice every two days. Since this had little impact on my RLS I increased the iron dose to 40mg every day from December until now. As yet I have noticed little change to my RLS symptoms. A blood test this month showed my ferritin

Cutting out pop and takeaways sounds sensible. I cut out dairy products and most carbohydrates but I am cautious about recommending that as eating too much protein and not enough calcium to remove the amino acids may have caused the kidney stones which I have developed. I should think most of those who

A new approach for treatment of subthreshold bipolar disorders: Targeted high dose levothyroxine+repetitive TMS for mitochondrial treatment
A very interesting paper. Difficult to grab any individual bits for discussion or introduction. The whole paper isn't very long. Even if bipolar disorders are not themselves of much direct interest, it might be worth a quick read because it discusses the control group as well and their ability to tolerate

Why Self Care is so important in managing your IBS…
My story starts with having being diagnosed with IBS seven years ago and I will have to be honest, it hasn't been an easy journey so far. However, for the past three months I have successfully kept my IBS symptoms at bay through Self Care. I will explain a little later what I mean by 'Self Care' but
