hi everyone!

I am writing because I wanted to see if anybody had similar experiences. I am four months post total thyroidectomy, and in the first month or so I didn’t really feel many or any symptoms. Now in the past two months, I feel like I am feeling more symptoms of hypothyroidism than I did, in the very beginning, I was just wondering if other people have experiences too, I also noticed that my menstrual cycle has totally changed and it kind of wacky. Now I guess I am just a little bit concerned and was hoping for some insight of course, I am still in the process of testing my blood every six weeks and seeing where my levels land , I am on 137 mg of Unithroid. The last time my TSH was measured it was seven. I am going for a full panel tomorrow morning and can let you guys know when I get those results, but was hoping to hear from other people.

Thanks!

Hi, you were still very hypo at your last test, lets hope the latest results are heading in the right direction, will you also get fT3 & 4 results as these are the important ones?

Ideally you would also get ferritin and full iron panel, B12, Vit D and folate levels tested

Come back with your results (and ranges) and we'll offer our advice 🤗

Yes, I just went this morning for a full thyroid panel! I will post the results once I know.

I wish I knew to ask for the vitamin and iron panel as well, but I will ask for that next time. I appreciate the feedback.

Also, correction in my initial post - I am on 137mcg of Unithroid, not MG

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too

That's interesting, I did have low vitamin D when I tested it last, so I would not be surprised to see if something else was low, as well. Thanks for the tips!

You probably require an increase to lower your TSH . Testing FT4, FT3 as well and then post the results on here, including the ranges.

I noticed that after 4 months after my TT I felt the same I had been put onto 100mg Levo and it was too little. How do you feel.

Thanks for the response! I just went for blood work this morning to test my TSH, T3, T4, globulin and antibodies. I will post the results once they get back to me.

I have been feeling a bit more tired, hair shedding, colder, my menstrual cycle is now irregular when it was always like clockwork, definitely a bit more "sad" some days than others.

My endo felt the only important thing to test was my TSH, and I went to my primary care doctor who then ordered me a full thyroid panel.
