Is there an "oligometastatic state" for prostate cancer (but not in breast cancer or lung cancer)?
The concept of an "oligometastatic state" is that there exists an early stage where metastases are few in number and are in some way different from metastases that develop later. It also means that there are no micrometastases in systemic circulation (in bone and lymph) and in reservoirs like bone, nerve

Lower Platelet count after HDR Brachytherapy
I am 76 and have had a low platelet count for at least the past 30 years. My results had usually been in the 125,000 range, with 140,000 to 150,000 being the minimum value to be considered normal. I had HD Brachytherapy for prostate cancer in November 2021, and ever since then my platelet count has

Worsening back pain after treatment?
I’ve had back pain before, and even had surgery to relieve it, but this is different. I’ve brought this up with my RO and my plain oncologist, but wanted to see if anyone here has experienced this. Next week I’ll be talking to my GP. A reminder of my DX: Gleason 9, spread to local lymph nodes. Treated

Starting again after cancer....
Now it's almost August, and I have completed my treatments of Chemo and
Radiotherapy
. I am down to 12 stone from 14+. I am also still weak as a kitten, suffering from fatigue and only just starting to eat solid foods again. (Almost up to 1200 calories a day!)

Two week post SBRT update
Hello All, I completed my 5 SBRT sessions on 5/1/2024. My results have been very similar to ToolBeltZia so I have not posted repetitive daily entries. Here are some items that may be of interest. 1) Very similar issues with constipation as ToolBeltZia had following SBRT. That is just now improving

Is it worth it?
I'm a 64 year old gay man married for 30+ years. I went to get my testosterone checked and it was slightly low but the doctor said before he prescribed T he wanted to do a PSA test. My PSA was 8, so he told me no sex or biking for 10 days and we retested and it was down to 5 which he said was still

Rectal hydrogel spacer for PCa radiotherapy
I am very shortly due for 38 sessions of
radiotherapy
on my prostate and I'm very seriously considering having this barrier fitted privately if it's not available as a treatment from the NHS, why wouldn't you?

Ct scan of abdomen and pelvis and full body bone scan?
Hello, I have been advised to get a ct scan of abdomen and pelvis with and without contrast, along with a full body bone scan prior to my next appointment with my urologist. PSA has been undetectable since completion 9/9/20 of image guided radiation to the prostate bed and lymph nodes with a 6 month

lupus and cancer
I’ve recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and won’t be able to have
radiotherapy
or chemotherapy due to the lupus. Has anyone else found themselves in this situation and how was it dealt with? I’m having surgery on 2nd of August so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Input on Timing of Initial ADT after RP/SRT Failed
After surgery and salvage radiation therapy (SRT) have failed, it appears I'm headed for androgen deprivation therapy. Like many things in the world of prostate cancer, the recommendations as to when to start ADT seem to be all over the place, so I'm seeking any insights folks may have based on your
