Hi my father's 18months into his 14month prognosis bless him he's had chemo radiotherapy unfortunately his mobility has become very bad due to the numbness in his left hand side of his body so all treatments stopped except steroids he had a fall 10 weeks ago and l organised hospital equipment for home for him as he lives with me and we were told he needed 4 visits by carers daily due to his size since being on steroids he's 20stone so can't do it alone, lve just found out there will be no carers due to shortages so he's lingering on a ward upset and depressed begging me to take him home and l have to leave him it's soul destroying,l don't know how long he has l want him to spend whatever time he has with me and our dogs on the farm l feel helpless

Hi Lezpopz, due to an accumulation of liquid in the operated area, my husband had paralysis of his leg and right arm, after the doctor made a puncture and placed the drain, the movements returned. Part of it you are doing so have faith and pray to the Lord to sustain you. I want him to recover.
So sorry, your father does need to keep positive try using one of those sensory balls to help gently builds his muscles up if something like playdough. He can stretch this roll it squash it too. Make sure he is having enough fluids. I mean like 1 litre of water. I have stage 4 GBM. I am doing pretty good I try to cut out all sugary stuff, in the morning I blend kefir plain one, use 5 cloves turmeric cinnamon handfull pumpkins seeds 2 brocoli tree stems curly kale also prebiotic drink plain no sugar and blue berries. I am pretty good. During the day. I have salad scrambled egg salmon, maybe hulumi cheese. It is difficult changing but I am good. I am on second part of chemo. Oncologist are really pleased. Look at Thomas syfed on you tube. He has helped me. Ihave faith gratefull for waking up every day. If you need me please contact me. If you can try and get him to walk around the ward if he's able. Good luck sweetheart x
Hi there,
Like your my father was very keen to be cared for at home. We had to really push our GP to insure he was able to have live at home care (three times a day) on the NHS. They can do it even if shortages as they will outsource to private carers. You just need to persist with the GP on the severity of the condition. We were fortunate enough to be able to supplement this with a private live in carer which cost around £1100 week through a wonderful company called Elder. They were fantastic and if your father as some savings this is the best possible way they can be spent in my opinion. It allowed ,my dad to be at home and relax with family in familiar surroundings.
Thoughts with you,
James
