IV/Blood Test stories
I want to hear all your blood test/IV stories. The good the bad and the ugly. As we SC-ers have to have bloods taken regularly and cannulas put in when we are hospitalised with a crisis or for blood transfusions. I've had 9 failed needle attempts in one session because my veins are so thin. I've had

Hgb and transfusions
I have been on Jakafi since the end of September. I am now needing blood transfusions every 3 weeks, is there anything I can do to keep my hgb up for a longer length of time?

To woman worried about 67-yr. old mom
I am doing research on liver disease and transplant for a novel and certainly don't want to appear insensitive to people dealing with serious health issues. I noticed a post on this forum from a woman whose mother who is very ill (suffering from Hepatitis from a blood transfusion years ago, and now end-stage

First proper clinic post-chemo
It seems like a lifetime away - the chemo that is - but was only about four months ago. My mind and memory are still doing its best to trip me up! Yesterday the consultant checked me over, cross questioned me on how I'd been feeling since the last time and inspected the blood results. No records on

A better way for a runner to donate blood!
I posted last year about the effect of giving blood on your fitness. Basically, they take about 13% of your blood volume, which has a corresponding effect on your aerobic capacity, as you lose red blood cells. Plasma, white cells and platelets replenish themselves in a day or two, but red cells take

Endo nightmare!!!
Well what can I say or should I say where do I start? 2013 I had laproscopy because doctors found a 6cm cyst on right ovary. Went to hospital to see gyno who mentioned I needed a ca125 blood test to see if it was cancer. I was no good. I was 28 years old and scared shitless. I got my op date for 24th

Has anyone come across 'Chem brain'
My husband is confused and absent minded. He keeps getting events and days confused eg over Christmas he kept thinking it was Christmas Eve every day. He's very tired and I suspect he is anaemic, he's had two blood transfusions over the course of 5 cycles of chemotherapy. I've stopped him from driving

IS THIS MY LIVER CAUSING THIS
I have severe pain all in my right back when my bladder is filling up and as it does it makes me "puffed out". I have a small cyst and all ct scans showed nothing else sinister. Sometimes I have trouble passing urine. Sometimes no problem. After eating on passing urine suddenly its like a pressure
