Is this normal?
After my blood tests last week I was asked to go in on Thursday for a transfusion, as haemoglobin only 69. Felt better for a few days after that but started to get breathless again from Tuesday. Had another transfusion today. Nurse said I might need them weekly for a while. Not on any drugs for the MF

That's right, I'd never heard of it either. I posted a while back about blood transfusion therapy: https://healthunlocked.com/amneasier/posts/147591737/anti-ageing-turn-back-the-clock-on-disease-and-all-that. An excellent post. So good, it garnered no interest at all on here. I still can't

Coincidence?
I was doing very well on peg interferon, which I started in July. I felt loads better than I had for a long time, with negligible side effect. Ongoing anemia
Hello, I am thinking if my wife has ongoing anemia due to a bleed the Drs can't or won't find. Why wait for four months to give her red blood cells when she last had RBC transfusion 4 months ago it brought her Hgb up to 115, then three months ago had iron infusion. Which didn't really increase her Hgb

Thalassemia: Lessons in Perseverance and Compassion
As I reflect on my life with transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia (thal), it is easy to become overwhelmed. In short, thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder where the body is unable to produce hemoglobin, which causes severe anemia and endless complications. In 1973, when I was diagnosed at 14

Is there a risk of IGG atrophy when getting regular IVIG transfusions?
I know that there are some substances you can ingest, that might make your body atrophy when it comes to producing it on its own. For example, I have heard that if you take a lot of melatonin for a long period, it might impair your body’s ability to make its own after a while. I am wondering if that

Start of my Stem Cell Journey 0.3
Well, where do I start. The transplant team wanted to increase my Rux to 10 mgs which has been really good for me. So much energy hardly any symptoms and overall feeling better. The fly in the ointment is my blood levels are dropping red cells were 80 and my platelets were in the 30’s. My Haematologist

Hi I’m just wondering how long people in the uk have waited for an iron infusion. I requested an iron infusion months and months ago as I can’t tolerate iron orally. Unfortunately my doctor forgot to put me on the waiting list and only amended that about a month ago after I mentioning that I was waiting

Injection of Rituxan
I spent 9 days in the hospital after developing hemolytic anemia after one year W&W. A blood transfusion helped, but not enough. I had my first of four Rituxan infusions in the hospital and one outpatient thus far. Numbers are improving and no adverse reactions. I now have a CLL specialist, Dr. Scott

D day is here!
after a year of enduring this tumour, D Day is here! Surgery is just hours away. feeling good. After being left quite ill after a failed iron infusion, but made better by one which worked with a blood transfusion, feeling good. Thats not to say that there arent butterflies, of course there are. But

Low iron levels with a heart condition
Pre heart condition (pre 2021) my iron levels had always been really good (around 140 ug/L) but since then they've dropped massively (currently 32 ug/L). To make matters worse, I unfortunately had a bowel bleed in February 2023 resulting in need a blood transfusion. I was put on ferrous sulphate for

My Mucusy
Someone on this forum used this term and I found it helpful. I know what that experience means to me in that I know when I am mucusy. I have had this experience my whole life. It happens when my body is stressed both eustress and stress. I have noticed it in others. I can often tell that a person is
