has anyone made the switch yet ? The doctor is planning to switch my husband over. He is 74 yrs old with high risk MF. Had taken HU since 2020 then switched to jakifi five months ago but made him more anemic with hemoglobin down to 6.6-7.5 so required blood transfusions monthly
Just curious if anyone made the switch and what dosage and how it is going ? Wondering how long one will see the effects ? a few months ? And any side effects. I know everyone has a different reaction but just wanted to see and hear if anyone had started taking this newly approved drug
On the jakifi he was taking a total of 20 since it’s a two day drug 10 in the morning and then another 10 at night
Thanks

I was taken off of Jakafi not due to Anemia, but because it is known to increase Squamous skin cancer incidents, which I am also dealing with in addition to MF. I was actually switched to Inrebic (AKA fedratinib). and while it is not what your husband will be taking, I will say my transition went quite well. I've been on it for approx 18 months and my counts are very steady and tolerable. Good luck.
Hi. I’m nearly two years into a three year trial on Jakafi and so far, my counts are all OK - certainly much better than they were on Hydroxycarbamide. So I’m afraid my experience is no good to you! Good luck.
I have MF. I've been switched from ruxolitinib to fedratinib and have found the transition quite difficult. I am now sufficiently anaemic to need transfusions once every 4 weeks. Momelotinib has been mentioned but apparently will not be available to me (I am in Scotland). I would be happy to be transferred to it if it were available here. Sorry not to be able to actually answer your question, but thanks for giving me the opportunity to vent!
I do hope your husband finds it works for him. Hilary
Hi we are in the Seattle area and he did make the switch from RUX to ojjarra staton Nov 1 he had many side effects from fast heart rate , dizzy, stomach pains that the Dr took him off it after 22 days so he is back on RUX and with a clinical trial for the anemia with RUX. How long have u been on it ?
Hi, I am on it since 5 months now only side effect was headache, so dose was reduced a bit. Sorry for the delay in responding, hope all is well with your husband.
