So my Dad is in rehab and is doing well with the physios and hopes to be home by the end of this month but he seems to be needing regular blood transfusions because his iron is too low. He only had one about 10 days ago and then an iron infusion and yesterday he got the same. I am still waiting on talking to any doctor but am wondering if this has something to do with the large bowel being removed. Maybe he can't absorb some nutrients? He has an appetite now and is on build up drinks. Is this typical after a critical illness? I just don't understand.
