Another curved ball 😐
Things had been going well !I was at the gym 2x a week for strength and Cardio ( also included a 30 minute treadmill run) But I have hurt my back again . I think this is the 3rd of 4th time now since my heart attack in February. It's quite painful at the moment and I have needed to add co codamol to

Doctor won't diagnose PMR
I'm absolutely certain that I have PMR. But my blood tests all came back normal, including the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and the inflammatory marker test, and I'm only 56. My GP has just left me on NSAIDS and paracetamol with physio. It's not working. How common is it to have PMR with no obvious

PMR and Covid vaccine
Hello. I was diagnosed with PMR in March 2023 but had pain from October 2022 which GP put down to deferred pain from hip problem which I had seen a physio who gave me excercises which with hindsight cured the hip pain. I had Covid vaccine in early October and I didn’t make the connection at the time

Words of hope for the newly diagnosed
I was diagnosed with asthma in 2001, then COPD in about 2010. About 4 years later, I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis. Recently, my diagnosis has changed to Chronic Asthma with mild fixed airways disease and Bronchiectasis. I am writing this to let you know that such diagnoses don't mean everything

Don't exercise - just dance
In January 2020 I caught Covid on a cruise (I was 79). I "toughed" it out (what an idiot) until it flushed out health problems that had been lurking in the background, i.e., Atrial Fibrillation, High Blood Pressure and Bronchiectasis. I had to give up work (I had planned to work till I was 85) and was

Worrying about symptoms
Diagnosed with Endo on pelvic wall nearly 3 years ago now. In the past year my symptoms have increased drastically. Heavy, painful periods and spotting randomly (on the combined pill). Lower back pain is excruciating it swells physically. Been to physio and pain management for this, they just say MRI

Anyone had back (muscle) spasms? Is it linked to PMR?
went back to the GP but could only get to see a paramedic and asked for Methocarbamol which is helping a bit but would have been more use in the early stages) - rapid shallow breathing can help loosen up mucles, as can very gentle forward and side stretches and 'breathing into the painful areas -

Bennett's fracture of the thumb and the rest. Don't cycle on Friday 13th January.
No such luck, though was asked if I'd like
physiotherapy
on my broken bones. I just can't believe the incompetence of the NHS in Wales. I'm still in pain every day from my skull fracture, my rib fractures , my grade 4/5 ruptured spleen, all of which are ignored.

Thoughts on the increments…
Just recently I have had indirect contact with a physio who is strongly of the opinion that C25K is too fast in its progression for some people. . She is recommending, specifically for the person involved ( and this is a person who previously ran frequently and considerable distances but who picked up

Race Report - Southern Athletics League , Brighton Match 19/08/2023
Thank you to Sue for reminding me to get this report written. 😅👍 Saturday 19th and yet another race day is upon me. The calendar has been busy and it’s about to ramp up further too. The big problem with having so many races is trying to fit in standard training routines such as visiting the gym

Graduated and pleased as punch
Really pleased to have made it to the end of the couch25k programme at my local park run. I have had arthritis since my teens and also hyper mobile joints and managed to dislocate my knees and an ankle when younger. I had stopped running but found I was getting horribly stiff. After seeing my GO and

WEEKLY CHAT 21-27 AUGUST 🫖☕️ WHEN AN EXERCISE DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD 😫
Hello lovely people. How are you? It’s time to pull up a comfy chair, plump up the cushions and grab a soothing drink and tell us what’s been happening in your running world. My news is that I was making nice progress on the running “ladder” and had just started week 4 of a HM plan and then I did something
