Kidney disease (category 3) and rising cholesterol level
Does anyone have cholesterol issues? I am so happy that stopping dairy and watching my protein intake (mostly plant based now) has helped me raise my gfr from level 3 to level 2 but yesterday’s meeting with my dr revealed that I now have cholesterol issues. Hard to believe...I was always a low carb eater

6-day Autophagy Fast
I am not expecting any of you to join me - but this might be of interest. I have been doing a 100-hour water fast every month, but I do not need to lose weight, so I do not need the calorie restriction of a water fast - and I do get low on energy on a 100-hour water fast. I do not have diabetes or any

Dr Andy post today about peak flow
Hi everyone If you're on the Asthma UK mailing list you may have got an email today from Dr Andy about using your Peak Flow to record symptoms. I find my PF doesn't really reduce when my asthma kicks off, but it is very informative and useful. But I would just add one thing and I don't know if anyone

Testosterone & Covid-19
New study below [1] [2] When the pandemic began, it was quickly noted that a disproportionate number of men were dying from it. Made sense, since women mount a stronger immune response than me with high-normal testosterone [T]. And then the Italian study came out in May (2020) [3]: "Our data suggest

It all started a couple of years when I was running to the loo literally 7 times a day this went on for a few months in which time I lost 2 stone. Bowel movements low carb eating
I’m sure I’m not the only one that has noticed that you don’t have as many bowel movements, unless it’s just me, is this because you are taking in more goodness so less waste,

Next step regarding underactive thyroid
Hi all, I hope everyone is staying safe. I am looking for some advice regarding next steps with an underactive thyroid (previous post below which I received great feedback on). I have seen no improvement in symptoms since the end of March (last blood results). I have continued on the same dosage of thyroxine

Not every breathing symptom is asthma!
Tentatively posting this because it’s perhaps controversial on an asthma forum - but it is also really important. It’s often assumed that any breathing symptom is asthma - those who have asthma assume it’s that because they have asthma therefore it must be that; those who don’t have asthma assume they

Not sure what to do
Hi. This is a first time post. I've struggled to keep my asthma under control for 5 months, since my vaccine. I had a bad flare up 2 weeks ago. My doctor prescribed Prednisone 40mg for 5 days plus antibiotics. This didn't seem to help, and I returned to the surgery on Tuesday. Doctor said my chest is

LDN: low dose naltrexone
I have Hashimoto according to my endocrinologist with slightly elevated antibodies (although GP is not convinced). I Have now TSH around 2 on 75mg levothyroxine. I am doing IVF and had multiple miscarriage which could have been related to TSH above 5 at the time (2 years ago, before starting levothyroxine

Asthma
Hi, I’m new hear. I’m a lady in my fifties and have a rare form of dwarfism the syndrome does effect my respiratory and the asthma nurse put me on Sirdupla/fluticasone 3 weeks ago. I have waited for one year to have a full lung function test and sleep apnea test. My peak flow is under 250.

Fun fact of the day
Prof. Henry Lardy was an American biochemist specializing in metabolism and dairy science (history does not record whether he also had an interest in pigs). I like to think that if he'd still been alive today, he would have published lots of papers on LCHF.
