Hi there, i was diagnosed with gallstones in may 2020. At the time i couldnt have anything done as i was pregnant and in my third trimester.
Since then i have made frequent visits to a&e for pain relief. They hve sent me home with co amoxiclav 4 times as always showing infection. I have also had ERCP and no stones stuck in bile duct. Im waiting for blood forms so that i can have a liver function test before gallbladder removal.
Because of covid i have been waiting a long time for the surgery, understandably. However im now exhausted from the constant pain and low fat diet. Struggling to care for my new baby as i have been taking morphine for relief and constantly relying on help from my mum. And due to go back to work in 3 weeks. Ive lost 6st 6lbs (no weight gain during my pregnancy)
Im worried that waiting so long for removal is causing bigger long term problems, cant be good always showing infection markers and taking so much pain relief every day.
Just wondered how long everyone else waited for their surgery? (Every time i phone general surgery they tell me surgeries havnt started yet)

Urgent surgery has been going ahead despite covid, for those considered not urgent there are long wait lists for everything.I had my gallbladder out last August, not for stones but was urgent so I waited about 3 weeks.
Maybe try a different hospital or call your surgeons secretary and ask her for help, the surgeon can push you up the list if he/she is sympathetic!
Thanks so much for your advise. Last time i went to a&e, in feb, they told me my doctor would expedite the surgery. Hoping im fairly close to the top of the list now. Fingers crossed.
When I had my gall bladder removed back in 2003 it was normal for the waiting list to be a year, I had a stone stuck in my bile duct and you would certainly know about it, they wouldn't do anything whilst I was in pain.Good luck
