Low Carb Diet makes a difference?
Does a low carb diet really help? After 5 years of PMR, down to 8 mg daily pred and overweight, I'm ready to try cutting carbs. What has been anybody's diet experience with meat, beans and green veggies with no potatoes, rice, pasta or sweets?

Underactive thyroid and what food to avoid
Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with autoimmune hypothyroidism 2 weeks ago. Was then started on 100mg levothyroxine. After my second blood tests (don't have access to the results, sorry) the dose was increased to 150mg levothyroxine and I was told my kidney function is off, as well (having a kidney and

Keto / Low Carb and Cognitive Functioning
I was reading a story about a woman who improved her memory by following a low carb diet. The research on this subject seems mixed. When I eat very low carb (as opposed to moderately low carb) I swear I have easier access to my subconscious. I also have a lot more memories from many many years ago pop

Newly diagnosed with Asthma
I caught COVID back in March 2020 and struggled with breathing for most of the 2020. I'm a cyclist used to riding 100+ miles per week and I was struggling to do 30m. I eventually got diagnosed with asthma due to COVID and prescribed FOSAIR 100/6 which really did work. My peak flow is 590 and with the

Peak flow after blue inhaler
Hi all, I was diagnosed with asthma during the first lockdown and I've queried the diagnosis since the blue inhaler never gave me much relief from my symptoms. I've never had an asthma attack as such but what prompted the diagnosis was the fact that I had an episode in which I was bent over my kitchen

Hashimoto's and not feeling better
Hi there! I'm wondering if it is possible to just never feel better (lethargic, mentally slow, unable to concentrate/difficulty reading, fatigued, short of breath, etc) when having hashimoto's? Like do some people just feel bad for their entire life despite doing all the right things? I know other people

Diagnosed with osteoporosis.
I am going to try and build my bone using
diet
instead of drugs. I am now on a
low
protein
whole food plant based
diet
. I learned animal and dairy products are acidic and leach calcium from bones to neutralize the acidity in the blood.

Hi to all, I have just finished a course of Rifaxamine for SIBO, (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) have read that they knock out all bacteria both good and bad! What should I be doing now to encourage the good back and discourage the bad bacteria….. I have a very limited low carb low fodmap diet

Why is my peak flow dropping & should I be worried?
Hi. I'm new here. The average peak flow for my age, height & gender should be around 400. Before lockdown, it was around 350 but has been dropping since an exacerbation in May. This morning, it was at 160. I'm not a smoker, but do have open gas fires, have just bought two air purifiers and exercise

Low carb eating - 99p Kindle book recommendation.
This kindle book is available just for today at 99p (- Sunday 1st August 2021.) You can also download a free sample first, to see if it it suits, as I did, but as this doesn’t get to the recipes chapter - and because I find the rest of it a good read, especially the supplements advice, about which

I've been recently diagnosed with high cholesterol & would just like some advice & help where to start with a low fat diet. My GP has refered me to a specialist, but while I wait any hints would be appreciated. Thanks

LC Cooking and baking
The last few weeks I have been venturing into the world of keto baking, inspired by several other HU users. This is my successful courgette bread. I made some very nice sandwiches with it last weekend. It has 1g carb per slice and it was a very simple recipe. Next to it is my unsuccessful "cloud" bread

Allergic or Asthma
I’ve always had at cat in my home for 20 years about 2 months ago I got 2 kittens and my asthma has been bad for the last week. On steroids wheezing low peak flow can you just become allergic or is this just an asthma flare up.
