Bruising like crazy.
Has anyone experienced frequent and easy bruising from being on steroids? My lower legs, esp my right leg, are covered with small and one a bit larger bruises. They are not painful and seem to pop up out of nowhere. Can it be the diabetes 2? Boy are they unsightful, along with my two knee surgery

TKR post op review
I’ve just about calmed down enough to share this experience now. Last week was my six week post op check appointment. It was a half hour journey but roadworks made it an hour. I rang ahead to explain but when we arrived the consultant was shouting out my name. I told him I needed the loo first and turned

x - rays
hi - when I went first to my Rheumatology dept 4.5 years ago - I had a X-ray on my knee as I’d had a lot of pain and swelling there. I’d tripped up at work. No evidence of any damage was seen. over the intermittent years including lockdown I ve had worsening swelling and more present pain. More drugs

subutex
does anyone have any experience of using subutex for restless legs? My mother has had a knee replacement and her restless legs are terribly severe and she is not sleeping at all. She is on progablin and we have taken her off the oxycodine as it was making things much worse, her whole body was shaking

it has been so helpful to read all the posts. I have only recently discovered this site. I started with PMR a few years ago and was put on Pred by my GP. 2yrs later I was diagnosed with GCA and went up to a higher dose. All of which helped with inflammation etc but I had the usual side affects. I was

Limited Scleroderma, Autoimmune issues, thymoma, metal implants in joints
I'm wondering if anyone has limited scleroderma and autoimmune issues, AND have had to have metal implants in any joint due to failed fractures? In May 2022 I stupidly tripped over my dog, fell heavily flat on my front onto a concrete floor, fractured my left kneecap and left wrist (radius). Both fractures

Port and Verzenio
Hello, I am going for knee surgery on 4/24 and now I must stop my Verzenio because of low white blood count , Has anyone gone that long without Verzenio. And also my knee Doctor wants my port removed because of infection and my oncologist said I can leave or take it out. Has anyone gone through this.

Security Scanners
I have had two unicompartmental knee replacements. Am I likely to set off security alerts going through scanners etc? If so, should I tell security first before I go through the arch?

Knee surgery update
Hello everyone, this is an update on my knee surgery which I had on 23 March. In the end my partial knee became a total as the wait time meant it had deteriorated too much. I stayed in for two days (from the projected one!) and that was too short. I was sent home with a frame, raised toilet seat and

Physio post TKR lessons
I have just had my second physio appointment which was delayed (because of a bad UTI) and rescheduled closer to home. It was a revelation because I learnt that I had been concentrating almost entirely on the gold standard of a 90 degree knee bend. Instead I should have been building up my thigh muscle

At Last!
I finally got to run 4 miles on the NRC 10k plan this morning!! 😁 I was beginning to think it would never happen. Normal routine has been absent for what seems like forever. What with falling and hurting my ribs a couple of months ago, then having Mum to stop for a while following her total knee replacement

Mom-questions
Hello, My mom was diagnosed about a year ago with PSP. She uses a walker and they installed stairlifts last summer. She is sad, feels trapped, is in denial about the progression of the disorder. She just scheduled knee surgery for this month. I cannot believe the doctor agreed to it. She seems

Sciatic type pain following knee replacement
Hello all, I had a total knee replacement 3 weeks ago and since then I have had a constant pain emanating from my lower spine and across my buttock. It’s worse when lying down. Has anyone else had this after TKR? I’m hoping it’s just upset muscles rather than true sciatica.

Not a flare, but RA of the hands
I've had PMR since March 2019, managed with Prednisone and Leflunamide. After a slow taper to 3.mg, my hands started swelling last August and were so stiff and painful that I could hardly use them. As I have mild carpal tunnel syndrome, I contacted my hand surgeon at Kingston hospital and got an appointment
