Correction of mistake in a Moderators answer.
On the 29th August an ACE moderator answered a question about the oral anticoagulant Pradaxa. It was stated that the drug has a licence for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. This is incorrect. Pradaxa is licenced for the prevention of stroke in people with non-valvular

Pain, lack of sleep and positivity
I moved home last weekend and have spent the whole Week trying to get the pain under control and even though I am so tired the sleep never comes. I then find myself getting uptight And angry which stops the sleep even more. Leading to the viscous circle Us people with fibromyalgia find ourselves

Mobility after knee replacement
I am due to have a total knee replacement in January and am wondering exactly how mobile you are on arriving home. I know you have to be able to go up and down stairs before you go home but really that is not a test of how mobile you are. I live on my own and am concerned that, together with my

Do I have to have a letter from my GP/Specialist to fly as I now have a knee replacement?
Hi eveyone and thanks in advance. It has been seven weeks since my knee replacement and as I missed out on my birthday holiday this month as I was not allowed to fly we have rebooked to go away in early December. I have had conflicting advice about whether or not I need a letter. Some people have said

Been to see the orthopod re knees
I had an arthroscopy 3 weeks a go & went back yesterday to get the results. The good news was that the top of the femur on one side was ok; the bad news was the most of the rest of the knee was either lacking in cartilage or minimal cartilage. There was also a tear which he tidied up. It's still very

I'm due for a knee replacement shortly but am still on clopidogrel after a MI in April. The Osteo surgeon will want me to stop clopidogrel
for ten days prior to surgery. Is this possible ? I desperately need the TKR as I am very immobile, which doesn't help the heart condition.

Apart from a bi-lateral knee replacement, both done at same time, I have also had a bunion op. The screw is still in place and more than 5 yrs on the foot, toes and ankle are swollen.. The swelling came on gradually but suddenly excelerated. The swelling is not in the area of the surgical scar but

And a bit of a
knock
to my
knee
yesterday meant I was also concerned it might not happen anyway. So, I ended up having three days break rather than the one, and doing a Saturday morning run today. It went as well as the Tuesday with a nice gentle pace and a marginally better speed than that one.
