I finally got to run 4 miles on the NRC 10k plan this morning!! 😁
I was beginning to think it would never happen. Normal routine has been absent for what seems like forever. What with falling and hurting my ribs a couple of months ago, then having Mum to stop for a while following her total knee replacement surgery - she’s in her 80’s and lives on her own since Dad passed away during the pandemic . Then a jippy tummy and on and off toothache.
The woods have become a mud-fest again, so this one was on the road – not my favourite as most of you know. A route I’ve never run before, and as it turned out, I totally under-judged the distance and under-estimated the amount of traffic.
I reached my turning point on the run, where the tarmac runs out, I paused briefly to take a snap of the lane. The NRC 4 Mile guided run stopped 🤬 “Oh well, I’ll make do without. I’m listening to London Grammar and really enjoying it…”
The weather in the photo looks glorious and it was, ignoring the wind. And the fact that 10 minutes from the end the sky went black, the wind picked up and the heavens literally opened. Of course, as I arrived home it stopped, and the sun came out again 🙄
I’m so glad I went when I did as the wind and rain has got much worse through the course of the day. I was thinking of a walk this afternoon, but there’s no way you’d get me outside now!
I’m really pleased to have got this one done and weirdly I feel quite virtuous for having got a good soaking whilst doing it too. It still leaves me with a good chance of getting back up to 10k in time for the HU Spring HM & 10k event next month.
Depending on what happens with my cataract referral…
