Hello - new member introducing himself
I am aged 50, above average
fitness
levels I keep fit, eat healthily and I'm a non smoker. When I get really bad reflux I do tend to get stressed easily thinking and worrying about it turning into a really bad attack which compounds things.

Immune System..
We might be able to maintain an austere diet, an intense
fitness
plan or a dramatic sleep program for a while. But these extreme behaviors usually don’t become enduring habits.

The most I've done is 5k I think, and only once a week just to keep a semblance of
fitness
going. On Thursday I struggled to do 3k before giving up, so had no great hopes for today other than seeing if I could get to 5, MT fallback distance.

Heart flutters and thuds
I have always been into
fitness
, running, rugby, weight training (resting heart rate mid 40’s). I do however struggle with strange heart flutters, thuds and skips mainly at rest but occasionally when exercising, these freak me put, take my breath away and sometimes lightheaded.

Back to Wk8 run 2
So after having 2 weeks off with a chest infection and my diet going out of the window I decided this week I would go back to week 8 and see how it goes ..To be honest I was dreading it and thought I would have lost a lot of
fitness
and my stamina would drop… surprisingly I went out and run 2.24miles

Getting back out
I started to feel I was losing it and that all my
fitness
was just going down the drain. It’s coming up to three years since I started couch to 5k and I have a horror of getting so unfit that I have to start again.

Intervals on Apple Watch
I’ve tried starting a run on the
fitness
app and then double tapping to record a segment but don’t find it very reliable when running and a bit flustered trying to double tab it. Has anyone mastered the use of an Apple Watch to make it work as well as the Garmin?

The difference has been pretty drastic and to say I'm over the moon at the prospect of regaining my health and
fitness
is an understatement.

People of HU: Meet Marina
Instead of running, I now use a rowing machine, which helps build the muscles that support my knees and keeps up my cardio
fitness
. I can row for 30-40 minutes but can barely hobble to the corner shop! I have finally been referred for knee replacement surgery.

Tips for succeeding in week 5
Hi I’ve just completed week 4 and definitely feeling the gradual improvements in my
fitness
but week 5 is scaring the bejeezus out of me! It seems to ramp up quite quickly so I was hoping for some strategies to confidently attempt and complete these runs…? Thanks in advance for your insights

Feeling good after first run since covid
I was so worried my
fitness
had disappeared. I also feel much more positive and ready to begin my work this am.

Loss of Stamina and speed!
I was an hour from death and seriously ill. 6 weeks ago I started the programme again - as my surgeon had said it was only my running and
fitness
that had saved me - and have just finished Week 6 Run 3.

Still running.....
I'm in my 50s and lost
fitness
due to illness and put a lot of weight on. I still run 3 times a week. Snails pace but I don't care. I'm gradually increasing my pace and distance. Today I've just done my first 5k, something I never thought I'd say.

Still running!
Completed c25k a few weeks ago and now running every other day for 30 minutes - gonna try and add a few more minutes to each run while I decide where to go next in this venture of
fitness
- although I didn’t believe it at first but each run does get easier and the support on here definitely keeps you
