Peppermint oil
Hi, I've bought some peppermint oil capsules today (Colpermin) but I'm a little confused how to take them. Do you just take them for relief during flare ups or are they intended to be taken regularly in an attempt to stop flare ups altogether? I often go a few weeks or more with no symptoms so I thought

20 minute power nap..........
Something I used to mention quite regularly, after having a head / brain injury, fatigue is a major consequence. A 20 minute power nap makes the world of difference. You don't even have to fall t sleep, just relaxing totally with your eyes shut for 20 minutes really helps. Like me, a lot of people who

Jobs for people with brain injuries
My 19 year old son was assaulted nearly a year ago and suffered a traumatic brain injury. We were told that his chances of survival were slim due to an arterial bleed into his brain. Thank the angels he survived and is with us today. He was due to start university last September but has been unable to

It's been a while, old 'friend'
Last night while out with my brother, sudden petit mal/partial/ deja-vu seizure knocked me sideways, backwards, all over the sodding place. Came home, went to bed and slept not a jot while my mind turned into a veritable food mixer of thoughts. Nonsense, song lyrics, problems, anything filled the void

Hows life been since brain injury?
How has your life been since your brain injury? Do you feel you are same as before or how have you changed? I had brain injury in 2012, was in hospital a month and half. Had to have physio to walk again but everyone said I made fast recovery. For me the worst thing about my accident was losing my dog

Ataxia
My husband started walking (slowly) but been falling down on & off. It's when he starts having the shakes on his upper body. He walks & u can see hes getting stronger but after some weeks he falls again. Its bn variable. Theyve put him on the medication Kepra before & his shakes appeared to hve minimised

New member- don't know what's going on right now!
Hi everyone, I'm new here and very new to the subject of "brain injury" My fiancée fell down the stairs at home 2 weeks ago today. He suffered a bleed on his brain and had surgery to remove the clot. He has "multiple contusions" and a base of skull fracture and his brain is still swollen apparently.

Feel drunk constantly
Hello. Thought I would post on the topic that everyone doesn't really have an answer to. I know people are going through the same thing and might have an answer. My story started 8 months ago. Randomly started feeling drunk at the gym and went to the doctor. Within the 8 months I have literally been

New here, introductory post and scared because of bad thoughts.
Hi everyone. I stumbled across this site by accident, I'm very glad I did! I suffer with Aniexty and Depression and have done on and off for several years. I take Citalopram 10mg and propranolol 120mg. I have a 2 year old and luckily a great support network around me. I've only been taking the Citalopram

Changing to Armour from Levothyroxine
On the advice of my nutritionist, I asked and persuaded my G.P. to switch me from Levo to Armour Thyroid but I've read a few other messages on here now about doing a gradual switch over and even a split dosage. I have been taking my normal dose of Levo ....50mcg a day because I was unsure how long it

Long term carer
Hi. I'm new to the site. My husband's head injury was in 1989. He was unconscious for 7 weeks and had several operations on his brain after being run over. He had a left frontal labotomy which resulted in a lot of changes in his personality . He still gets angry about his accident and life can be unpredictable

Problems with bowels - diarrhoea!!
Hi I've been having problems with my bowels off and on since 2012. The problem is diarrhoea and the need to go to the toilet suddenly without warning. When this first started happening I had a number of embarrassing accidents whilst out when I didn't make it to the loo. My doctor prescribed Imodium which
