IBS general: my experience
E407, or “Carrageenan” – is a food additive derived from a red seaweed, which is only present in small quantities as a thickener, but even at low levels it has been shown to be “highly inflammatory to the digestive tract” and associated with IBS,
colitis
and other GI diseases.

Fatigue - bowel issues
I am just over 1.5 years out of treatment and my bowel seems to have gotten worse - I think its radiation
colitis
as everything is very small and often 'shaggy' with the occasional leakage of a small amount of clear mucus when I'm sitting at the breakfast table! Its like SURPRISE!! Oh joy.

Constipation with colitis?
Anyone experience constipation with
colitis
? Seems every once in a while I can go a few days without a movement. Then I'm bloated. Usually followed by diarrhea. Happens a few times a year.

Has anyone who has colitis have severe constipation that laxatives have no effect. Doctors need to see lining of bowel 1 failed colonoscopy?
Laxatives for colonoscopy failed. Go back to hospital next week for CT colonography. Now drinking different bowel prep. I have severe bowel dysfunction, (slow transit colon). I'm really anxious as my pain has got much worse and it's like I can feel my colon is inflamed. What happens if these laxatives

Reaching out desperately
Also I have been diagnosed with bowel disease, probably ulcerative
colitis
. I have 3 severely autistic teenagers who rely on me. My oldest has just recently moved into a brilliant care home but I still care for him and my other 2.

Biologics next when Immunmodulator Azathioprine fails
I have IBD (
Colitis
) since 2018 and have been on mesalazine, enema with periodic steroids to manage my flare. Lately I tried Azathioprine for 3 weeks (from 1 dosage to 2) but have elevated liver function test ALT and AST more than 4 times acceptable range last week.

What tests?
I have had surgery to excise endometriosis on and around the bowel, followed by a colonoscopy where they diagnosed and cauterised hemorragic
colitis
with neovascularisation. It has helped for the bowel bleeding.

I am in the process of working through some things with my gp, but suspect I have

Possible crohns, awaiting biopsies
This one showed moderate
colitis
through the colon with the consultant thinking Crohns. I’m just awaiting biopsies for confirmation. Not sure how long this takes? I’ve also suffered joint pain but assumed it was my age at 47 and developed chronic uveitis over the past two years.

PA & UC ?
I have thought for the last 10 years I had PA ( B12 score was 68) but now I am not sure as I have just been diagnosed with UC ( Ulcerative
colitis
). I had the endoscopy & colonoscopy via my works insurance as my Dr wouldn't refer me.
