My kidneys were damaged by a drug I have taken for 30 years for Ulcerative

Implications of butyrate and its derivatives for gut health and animal production 2018
However, when a similar study was performed on patients with ulcerative
colitis
in remission, butyrate showed only minor effects on inflammatory and oxidative stress parameters that seem to be dependent on the level of inflammation (Hamer et al., 2010).

Laparoscopy today no endometriosis found
I also have bowel issue but have been diagnosed with ulcerative
colitis
proctisis. My gynaecologist who did my procedure today wasn’t an endometriosis specialist and I was discharged without any pain relief. (Added list of procedures done today)

Help! In a panic!
My whole body is in some kind of allergic crisis - I can't eat anything without coughing, wheezing and my ulcerative
colitis
is back and the bowels are not working. I went on a fast to help things and my heart would not stop pounding after two days, so I finished it.

Manuka honey and Pancreatitis 🍯 🐝
Manuka honey has been used successfully to treat peptic ulcers in NZ so this made me fascinated in it as I also suffer from microscopic
colitis
which is where the individual cells of my colon are prone to bleeding and its incurable so I've learnt to avoid triggers and turn to Manuka honey when it does

When to take Questran or Colestid powder
I am taking one sachet of Questran or Colestid powder (containing colestyramine or colestipol hydrochloride respectively) per day to control suspected bile acid malabsorption (I have a cooperative doctor - but I haven't been tested for BAM) and therefore IBS D - and with some success. My question is,

Spirulina
Conclusion An improved quality of life was observed among ulcerative
colitis
patients following spirulina supplementation, which could be attributed to improved sleep disturbance and stress status.

IBS or not?
I have not lost weight as ulcerative
colitis
or chrones would suggest and I do not think there is blood in my stool but this diarrhoea is getting beyond a joke and being sick with it is becoming more of a problem now. I really have had enough!

PMR & IBD connection
I was diagnosed with PMR in January this year and have now been diagnosed with
Colitis
after having a horrendous 7 weeks and awaiting treatment. I was curious to know if the two are connected in any way. Thoughts greatly anticipated, thank you.

Prostate Cancer Care With No Rectum
A biopsy was the next step, of course, BUT my colon and rectum were removed 50 years ago for ulcerative
colitis
(no problems with my permanent ileostomy since then.)

Anyone with Calprotectin level higher that 6000?
My son (14) has been diagnosed with Crohn's 5 years ago. His initial Calprotectin levels were between 2000 and 3000. After a year and a half of Prednisone, Salazopyrin and Entocort his levels shot up to over 6000 (literally off the chart). The doctor ordered another test assuming that it was a false

Stopped: B. Longum BB536 (Morinaga) probiotic for gut related health issues (IBS) -> switched to b. infantis 35624 (Alflorex)
I'll no longer take Alflorex and will try another probiotic, Bacillus Coagulans. I also don't take bacillus coagulans anymore. These probiotics weren't beneficial for my health symptoms. **************************** Just started, the 11th of August, with a single strain probiotic, bifidobacterium longum

When people talk about having flares, what does that mean with PMR?
I also have ulcerative
colitis
and know what it means in that context. With PMR I’m still trying to figure out what my base line is, or even if this is PMR. I was started at 60 mg for possible GCA but they believe that is ruled out (no inflammation markers, negative biopsy).

IBS general: my experience
E407, or “Carrageenan” – is a food additive derived from a red seaweed, which is only present in small quantities as a thickener, but even at low levels it has been shown to be “highly inflammatory to the digestive tract” and associated with IBS,
colitis
and other GI diseases.
